Default BFG T/A KO 265's or 275's Your Opinions??

Well, I've decided to go with the BFG T/A KO 265 or 275/70R16's w/American Racing Outlaw II 16x8 rims. I'm installing 4x4 TRD coils and Bilstein's all the way around to give my front end a more leveled look. Originally I was exploring all sorts of lifting ideas from spacers to coilovers but have concluded that since I just don't do enough off-roading to justify the larger tires (and with that, higher gas bills) that I'm going to stay with one of these tire sizes. I'm leaning towards the 275's because they're .5" wider but .5" less in height. My truck is a limited so it has the extended fender flares and I would like the tires to show as much as possible. Does anybody out there have a setup similar to this? If you guys have any opinions about this setup, please share. I would love to go bigger but just can't justify it right now.

Thanks!
Chris

I like the 265/75R16 choice(I'm assuming you mean a 265/75, not the 265/70 that comes stock on these trucks). But I'll warn you about BFG A/T KO's. I have the 285/75's on my truck, a bigger wheel for sure. But the BFG's are considerably noisier on the freeway. I talked to a neighbor who just got the same size Revo's on his Tundra and he loves them. I'm going Revo's next time for sure. Lots of folks like the Michelins too. Just a word of warning if tire noise is a concern. /Mike

Default Just a thought

I have a 2000 Limited with the fender flares you talk about. I also put a set of MT Classic II(16 x 8), but used a 3 5/8 backspacing. It looks great with the limited flares. As far as tire size....I used the Revos and went with a 275/70/16. Best set up I've ever had, it looks aggressive, and the tires are quiet too.

Hate to say it, but I agree...Revos are the bomb. They are amazing quiet on the road and plenty grippy off road. I have the 265/70/17.

Deanno, I have an 03 sr5 and just bought a set of 17 inch rims. I assumed I could only run 265/70-17's. Is there room, without a lift, to get 265/75-17's packed in to the wheel wells? Thanks.

Jimmie

Thumbs up

Ok boys, well here it is....Prior to reading your posts, I went ahead with the 275/70R16's and love em'. I also added the 4x4 TRD coils in the front and bilsteins 4x4 shocks all the way around. The truck looks great and rides beautifully. I'll post pics pretty soon. I decided not to go with any sort of lift for now and just fit the largest tire possible w/out rub. I made the right choice and am very happy with it. I've learned some great tips and tricks from this site and thank everyone who has helped me out. Talk to you soon.

Chris
