I searched, looked at the larger wheel faq, etc and ran out of energy before I trudged through the general discussions and found an answer to my question.
I have a set of TRD 20's and now I need some recommendations for tires.
I want a tire that isn't going to rub, but also don't want a large amount of wheel well showing.
I'd say definitely 275/55. Back when I was looking at 20's( I can dream after all), that was the size I would have gone for. It's just a little bigger than 265/75 which people run with no rub, but it's also just a little wider. I would just put a 1" spacer to make your truck level and assure you have no rub. You could go without a spacer, but may rub when turning under compression.
I like the 275/55 for the sidewall, it's substantial enough to still give you some rim protection and some 'shock absorbing' quality(cause those 20's will ride a little stiff). I have seen some runing 285/50, that's a nice tire. It's a little smaller diameter than the 275/55 but it's wider so not sure about rubbing with that either. /Mike

Still got those Moda's? I was really close in getting the 18's on those since it was on sale at tire rack but it was a pain to get a LT 285/65/18 from BFG's so I am stuck with my 16's.

I am loving the tires I am running. i got the reccomendation from the guys at SOS Performance. Scorpion Zero 265/45 up front and 295/40 in the back. These are the same diameter as stock tires and the wider rear tires even out the track on the truck. To remove unsightly fender gap you could try SOS's drop shackles, its a cheap quick way to improve the looks without sacrificing payload or performance. I have the shackles on my rig right now and have had no problems ( they will be 86'ed in favor of the 4-link soon)
Good Luck

Allan...yeah, still got 'em. they're still sitting in my garage. got quite a few offers, but i haven't been home enough to box them up. i'm a bad seller.
bwilder10h...295/45s are another good size. the 265/50s and 295/45s are probably the closest you'll get to the stock OD.
