I am looking into replacing all 4 tires on my 2001 Sequoia Limited with the Goodyear Fortera HL Edition tires. Has anyone had any experience with these tires. Any information would be helpful.

The november issue of consumer reports rates the Goodyear Fortera HL #1 in light truck tires. Pirelli Scorpion STR A is #2 and Hankook Dynapro AS RH03 IS #3 The GY Fortera are also the most expensive. Hope this info helps you.Originally Posted by Sequoia2001

I have the Goodyear Forteras on my 2001 Sequoia. I've use them for a little over a year now and other than an annoying noise during the first 100 miles or so( a flopflopflopflopflop )they have been good.I almost returned to the tire dealer at first, but went on a 1500 mile vacation and after that, I didn't notice it again.I have about 12000 miles on them now.
Hands down I like the Bridgestone REVO's. I'm on my second set (first set is still on the 4runner we just traded). The first thing I did when we picked up our Sequoia is drive down to the tire shop and trade in the stock tires for a set of 275/70R16 REVO's. I've looked at the Fortera before and it looks too much like a street tire. Although it does get good ratings on the website www.tirerack.com , the REVO's have 4 times as many miles reported and substantially better ratings. My REVO's have always done very well in deep snow/ice and ride comfortably. Plus, I like having an off-road looking tire on my 4wd Sequoia. Just my $.02, good luck with your purchase.
After having read the Consumer reports and physically looked at the tire in a shop I would question its ability in the snow.
The tread blocks are very tightly packed with very small sipes. Additionally the sipes aren't very straight, they have curved pattern. I wonder how well they would self-clean when clogged with snow.
They may be a good street tire in a mild climate, but I would question anything beyone that.
I bought a set of Firestone Destination A/T's because I will be off roading our Seq from time to time and wanted something more agressive when the weather turns ugly. So far thay have been great. They wear like iron, run quiet and smooth, and handle standing water on the roads like it isn't there. Now, if I could only give them a snow test...we've had an unusually mind winter.
Also consider Bridgestone Alenza...http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....r+H%2FL+Alenza

Just dropped some coin on Goodyear Fortera Triple Treads for my 06 Tundra Doublecab. The truck drives like new, and handles much better in heqavy rain. Being in GA, I could care less about snow traction. Definitely a worthwhile investment.
