    Question 18" TRD wheels

Anyone have the 18" TRD wheels on a Tundra or Sequoia?

Yes. They are of very high quality. Had 'bout two years now. It's actually a BBS wheel from Germany. Ride is really nice. -But the tires are a little lower profile compared to stock, and no one really makes a direct replacment for off road use. Except maybe Nitto 285/60/18. Otherwise a wise, if pricey, purchase. Wise because it is a TRD allowed wheel i.e.- back spacing is right. they don't rub. It's cast not forged. -For the same price u may be able to get forged wheels. But I love the shine, luster and beefy look. I don't really like the chromey look of Welds, which are forged. No regrets.

Thanks... I hear the tire pressure sensors will not work and BBS is coming up with a new design for Toyota/TRD that will allow their use. I have the 16" Ivan Stewart TRD wheels now and if I upgraded to new wheel would like to go with the bigger wheel so maybe I could add the TRD brakes.

    Default Pressure Sensor

Any further word on the sensors? I was looking at an '05 DC and wanted the 18" wheels.

Has any person tried 285/60/18s instead of the stock 275/55/18 for these wheels or 18" wheels (0" off-set) w/ 285/60s. Any rubbing? Cutting or spacer needed?

I know people here have used that tire size. I don't recall what offset they had on their rims though. That 285/60/18 size has a similar OD to a 265/75/16 tire which a lot of people run without a problem. I'm sure you can go up to a 285/55/18 tire... that is the same OD as the factory TRD/Limited tire size of 265/70/16. You might want to try a search.

From my knowledge I always thought forged wheels were better and of higher quality? Rather than getting a wheel from a mold...at least all of my hand tools are forged...the cast ones break so easily.

Your correct on this. Forged is the best and the only way to go! Very high quality and a brilliant finish. Forged wheels are made from a solid piece of aluminum. Cast wheels are made from liquid and contain porosity so they do NOT achieve the same strength, finish, quality or weight efficency as a forged wheel. Don't settle for anything else but forged!
2004 Tundra doublecab SR5 4x4, TRD package, 2.5" Swayaway/Racerunner coilovers, 18" moto metal 951c with Nitto Terra Grapplers, K&N filter, Wet okole front and rear custom seat covers, A.R.E. Bed cover, TRD 3rd brake light cover, custom viper alarm, Gold plated emblems. CPS Westin Bull bar, Westin Driving lights, polished Elliptical bumper grill.

Still to come: custom dash kit, JBA headers, exhaust, and eventually custom paint. And whatever else looks appealing!

    Default Re: 18" TRD wheels

Not sure if any new experience since the post below... but I have a 2001 Tundra with 1" spacer in front and Roadmaster active suspension in rear. I have the BBS 18"ers.

What is the largest tire I can put on w/o rub or issues? I would just like a 'beefier' look... more sidewall height. With these wheels and the cross terrains on them, kinda makes them look itty bitty.

    Thoughts?

I think most are running 285/55/18 without lifts.
