tire and rim size...

will a 16x8 rim fit on a 31x12.5R16LT tire? in the specs it says that the rim size is 16x10, but i was wondering if a 16x8 rim would also fit? any help would be great....thanks

This question will probably get a host of answers. But here's my 2cents, some say you can put a tire with a tread up to 5 inches wider than the wheel and others say you can only go 4 inches. I have friends that put 32x11.5x15 on 15x7 wheels with no problem. I would say that there should be no problem fitting a 31x12.5x16 on a 16x8 but I would verify that answer.
