This is a discussion thread titled "Hankook Dynapro AS RH03", within the Tires and Wheels forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Consumer Reports has never let me down. I got my current tires (they were the best deal available with wheels from TireRack) using CR, and when they need replacing, I plan to go with the Hankooks. Why? They have the lowest rolling resistance in the All Terrain category which translates to better fuel mileage, plus good scores in other important categories. I had previously considered them 3rd rate or brand X, but apparently, they are 1st rate.

Thanks for responding. I was beginning to wonder if anyone knew much about Hankook. I recently purchased their winter tire ICEBEAR W300 mounted on steel rims. They really work great in snow and ride very nice for a winter tire. That's what got me thinking about all season from Hankook. The tire you are talking about is the Dynapro AT RF08. I considered that too, but I would rather have a 3 season tire since I now have winter tires. The RHO3 scored only sightly higher overall than the RF08. Good to hear that someone else is considering trying Hankook on their Tundra!

Ericb,
I forgot to mention, when and if you get the Hankooks, post your opinions about them. Thanks!

Just wanted to make sure you knew...
that the recent CR report you read, is really not a fair assesment of all, "all terrain" tires on the market. The report is actually, somewhat MISLEADING! Take a look HERE for another thread, regarding this very same report. The report ONLY rated all terrain tires which were "P" rated tires. CR did NOT test any LT all terrain tires in this report, which in all honesty, is quite confusing to me, with consideration to the shear number of LIGHT TRUCKS on the road today?!
I see from your recent thread though, that you mentioned, you were actually looking for "P" rated tires on your truck. So you should be fine with the info in the CR report on the Handkook tire, if that's the tire you decide upon. Handkook does however, offer this same tire in an LT configuration, although I'm willing to bet, there are better LT "private lable" tires out there, like the Handkook, which are better!
I just didn't want you to be mislead by what you had read, in the CR report.

TundrastruckDave,
Thanks for your concern. Like you indicated in the second paragraph, I am most interested in the P-metrics because I typically drive highway and only occasionally haul or tow. I also found out that V8Toilet has the Hankook's on his Tundra and has told me that they are a really good tire. He said he will be buying them again when they wear out. He has had Michelin's, Toyo's, and Yokahoma's on his Tundra in the past. Based on his experience, I would say it's worth trying them. I have the winter tire by Hankook on now and like them a lot.

I have these tires on my 06 Tacoma DC. I upgraded to 17" wheels and therefore needed new tires. Overall I am very pleased with the tires. They handle fine and are smooth riding. The one thing that bothers me some is the noise level. Compared to the OEM stock Dunlop's road noise is more pronounced. This is their only downfall, everything else is great. The rolling resistance is much less than the Dunlop's. I can tell the difference just from driving. With the old Dunlop's, when I let up on the gas and coasted the truck would slow down quicker compared the Hankooks. So the gas savings alone makes this a worthy tire. Not to mention, they are inexpensive; I got my set from discount tire direct with free shipping. 17 inch tires are not cheap but these were under a $100 each shipped. I have only had them on my Tacoma about 2 months so I cannot comment on wear. Road noise is a subjective thing, but I can at least tell you it is more than the OEM's. In my opinion the road noise is moderate and not that big deal; I'm sure there are plenty other tires that are much noisier. Overall when you consider the superior handling, braking and gas savings for the price they can't be beat. good luck.

PZOO,
Thanks for sharing the info. I have two people now to count on here at TS that have Hankooks. As for the road noise, the BFG's on my truck make some noise too. I don't know how it will compare to the Hankooks until I try them.
How do the Hankook's do as far as collecting debris from the road? Example: rocks? The BFG's seem to pick up everything and fling it up on the truck.

Just bought 4 Hankook DynaPro RH-03's from Town Fair in CT.
I think they'll be fine. They didn't have many other choices in 265-65-17 tires, and Dunlops were completely out of the question.
Had to go back for re-balance after I hit 60 mph on the highway. Their machine didn't fit my stock alloys vey well...
