Default Smoothest, quietest tires for Tundra

What are the quietest, smoothest riding tires for my 03 Tundra 2WD Access cab? My truck is strictly a highway/city truck that will never have the pleasure of seeing a dirt road. I currently have BF Goodrich Long Trails and my vote isn't in on them yet. What I am looking for is the quietest tire that will give me the smoothest ride on Toyota 16" rims and the factory size.

Yes, I have been told to buy a car if I want a ride like a car, but that is not an option for me.

    I'll chime in here, Ray.

I use my Tundra for the same things you do, and it's an 02 AC V8 2wd. I have Michelin LTX M/S 265/70R 16. I swear by these tires for on road stability, ride, and life. You won't find a better light truck tire for on-road applications. You will, however, find cheaper ones, but I've found that the life of the LTX M/S makes up for the premium cost. I currently have 80k on mine and still have about 30% tread life left. I fully expect to get 100k out of them. I keep them rotated regularly (every 5k) and make sure I run consistent pressure at 35 psi.

Thanks for the response - I saw these tires at BJ's and was almost sold until he told me he only had three in stock - how did THAT happen.
I used to use the Michelin MXV4's on my Honda and loved them.

Do you run 35 PSI all the way around?

Yep, 35 Psi, unless I'm towing something (rare) or hauling something heavy (also rare). They seem to wear very evenly at that psi.

What do you run when towing or hauling a heavy load?

Damn near max PSI, I think around 50 psi...it says on the sidewall of the tire.

I'll also chime in about the Michelin LTX M/S tires...

I've tried only one other tire (Yokohama Geolandar AT+) besides the stock Dunlops and the Michelins. The Michelins are the quietest and most comfortable of the three.

Thanks for the input - these BF Goodrich arent the quietest or the smoothest but they saved my butt this afternoon. A trailer on I-95 kicked up a bag of stucco mix and had to do a weave to escape injury.

So far I've only had the BFG Rugged Trails and Yokohama Geolander ATs. Of the 2 the BFG's were quieter and softer than the Yoko's. But, the Yoko's are better in just about every other category. I also think that "P" rated tires might be smoother than "LT" rated tires.

    Thumbs up Michelin LTX M/S

Michelin LTX M/S are known to be the roundest, truest, smoothest radials made.
Maintain correct air pressure, rotate and balance often and you will be very happy with the way your truck rides.

I just put on Michelin Cross Terrains. Had them about 2 weeks. They ride smooth, and so far are very quiet. I didn't have the choice to use the LTX M/S, I have 17 inch rims, and they didn't come in my size. They were very pricey, which almost made me decide on something else. But in the end I took the safe route.

I also stay on road, but tow a boat.

Any goo tutorials on tire ratings and rankings? ie P rating, LT rating, speed rating quality rating etc
These BFG Long Trails are a bit loose in the rain and wind. I was swishing around on the road like a belly dancer on a waterbed!
