Default Anyone had trouble with Bridgestone Deuler ht's?

I have an 05 Tundra doublecab thats bone stock and just turned 20,000 miles. The Bridgestone Dueler HT's that came on it from the factory are completely shot. Shot to the point that I'm afraid steel belting will start showing any day. I've had them rotated every 5000 miles, had my alignment checked & found it was perfect. I had the tires checked at 16,000 miles and all had uniform wear with about 5/32 of tread left. I don't take it off-road and its not like I'm drag racing or something. This wear is from on road in town travel. I've talked to my local Firestone/Brigdestone store and they said since it was an oem tire i needed to talk to Toyota. Went to my Local Toyota dealer and they said they didn't make the tires so i need to talk to Bridgestone. Everyone says the same thing, "well those really shouldn't be wearing out that fast" then they all proceed to play the pass-the-buck game. Has anyone else had problems with these tires and/or had any luck getting the issue resolved?

I had those, thought they were only going to last 25000 miles. They looked thin at that point, but seemed to slow down wearing, and I got about 38000 out of them. I switched to a michelin cross terrain. I expect to get better wear from them, especially given the steep price.

I have them on my '05 DC as well; just rolled 18K on the odo and nothing that looks like premature wear thus far. I would think they'd give us more than 50K at the very least. The stock Goodyears on my '99 Taco lasted through 82K and even then they weren't bare by any stretch. The only other truck I saw that ran through tires that quick was my buddies Dodge.

I think the abbreviation for Bridgestone is BS. And that is what those tires are!

03 Sequioa. I have 44000 on my Bridgestone Deuler ht's. I swapped out one with the spare at about 20000, can't tell which one was the spare. Looking to replace the whole set. Any suggestions?

I think you have answered your own question. Dueler HT's are great road tires;quiet, goood tread life, low rolling resistance, good dry traction, wet traction ok, but not the best, what are you after? You got 44,000 on a heavy Sequoia with a relatively inexpensive tire. I ask again. What do you want? No offense. You need to ask yourself what was inadequate about this tire and replace them with a tire that best fits your driving style.

just because you CAN get a certain mileage out of a tire, doesn't mean you SHOULD! do a search. most folks hate them. they hydroplane easily and have very soft sidewalls and wear out fast. gatorman is right, though, they do have some good qualities. they are quiet and low rolling resistance.

live is too short to ride on cheap OEM tires. get some good rubber on there pronto and stop messing around with the crappy OEM tires. i'm saving for my next set as i write....

i will put my name up to fifteenth that fact that the H/T's suxor. had some H/T 689 on my '02 when new, and they ran out by 20,000 and squealed and slid and hydroplaned everywhere...and that was just in my driveway...heh seriously though, my new dualer A/T Revo's are great. I love em.

I hate to be the one to disagree, but the Dueler H/Ts that came on my truck were wearing very good. I replaced them at 32K, not because they needed it, but because we lifted the truck. Judging by the wear, I would have expected to get close to 50K from these tires.

Default Re: Anyone had trouble with Bridgestone Deuler ht's?

I only know from my own experience.

I believe that there are several factors that attribute to the wear of tires. How much load, how fast you corner, how much curvy roads you drive, how much off-roading you do, yada yada. I am also wondering if the same brand of tires can get manufactured with "weak" and/or softer rubber.

I have been reading about tires again because I am due for a new set before the fall.

I think the OEM tires are "cheaper" and typically will wear out faster.

I have an 03 Tundra that came with BFG tires and I burned through those in less than 20,000 miles. I bought the Revo Dueler A/Ts because I read a lot of reviews and I was skeptical (and disappointed) of another set of BFGs even though the BFG A/T had good reviews. A huge deciding factor was that I needed traction in rain and snow. The Duelers did really good as far as traction although definitely squashy for my taste and they are worn out after 30,000 miles. I put the BFG A/Ts on my wife's Subaru and she loved them also because of the excellent traction they provided during rain and snow... but they also wore out after about 30,000 miles. I carry tools in my truck 98%of the time and I live in the mountains and drive on curvy roads which I am sure has a huge effect on wear. But my wife drives with no load... so I would conclude that the wear is more attributed to the curved road driving rather than anything else.

I am tempted to go cheap now (like Toyos or Coopers) on my Tundra just to see if there will be much difference. If I have to replace tires every 30,000 or so, I might as well save a little cash and just expect to replace tires every year or so. I did put another set of the BFG A/Ts on the Subaru cause the wife like them so much.

On other vehicles I have owned the tires were always designed for pavement driving. I had good wear and longevity with Goodyear and Big O Euro SXP brand tires (65,000 the most I ever got out of a tire) and the worst wear with Uniroyal and Firestone. I have never gotten more than 40,000 to 50,000 out of any tire except the one set from Big O. Others have probably had the opposite experience and that is why I wonder about rubber strength at the manufacturing plant.

The "tire rack" has lots of reviews on tires whether that helps or not I don't know.

My lowly 2 cents. Good Luck
