Default Yokohama Geolandar AT/S Review

I've put about 5k miles on these tires and have driven them on rain, snow and dry roads. My last set were Revos. The Revos are most definitely better in snow. On snowpacked roads I really never had to use 4wd with the Revos. With the A/T-S' just a lightly snowpacked road will cause them to spin. IMHO, the A/T-S' just flat out suck on snowpacked roads and 4wd is a requirement (they drive fine in 4wd, no question). I have a topper with an 80 lbs. dog box and probably another 50 lbs. of stuff in the bed so it's not a question of having weight over the rear axle.

On dry roads the A/T-S' have just fine traction. They are good on sandy, dirt roads as well as wet roads. They ride much rougher than the Revos, too. The A/T-S' are made of a much harder rubber compound so I expect them to last much longer than the Revos. At 30k miles the Revos would not make it through a winter with any traction.

thanks for the update
The reason I love my Revo's is because they work so well in the snow and rain....

I still can't quite decide if the Revos are worth the extra money and the less tread life, though. We'll see how I feed about these Geolandar's after another 10 - 15k.

Is th AT/S a direct tire to the Revo? When I was reading it seemed like the AT+II was closer to a Revo. I bought those (D load range for towing) but never get into the snow. I've put 40k miles on them now and they've worn fine. A little loud, but you accept that on a working truck.

how's your gas mileage? I would think the Geolandars would have a lower rolling resistance than the Revos, but is it enough to notice mpg improvements?

Why would the AT+II be closer to the Revo? The treadwear rating (it's higher on the AT/S).

As for mileage, I haven't noticed a difference in 5k miles.
