Question 2004 Camry XLE Spare Tire

I recently purchased a 2004 Camry XLE, but discovered the spare tire is missing. The care has the 16 inch rims. I am trying to find out if a 16 inch tire came with the car originally, or if it came with a doughnut spare. I would prefer to have a full size spare instead of a doughnut spare but need to make sure it will fit in the trunk properly. The 16 inch tires I have now fit, but the carboard cover did not sit down all the way as it should. If the spare was a full size, would it have been a 15 inch instead? The owners manual only states that the spare may or may not have been a doughnut spare (space save, limited milage tire).

If I get a 15 inch spare instead of a doughnut, will it affect the handling or driveability of the car any? I don't want to compromise safety, especially as it is my wife the is the primary driver of the car. Thanks.
