Default Towing with xB

I am looking at some new vehicles and the 2008 xB is the right price. However I do have one concern. I plan on towing 1 maybe 2 watercraft (750lbs each) and want to know if this is possible. The dealer is beyond useless in my area. I am not looking to pull the trailer up and down hill (except for the launch ramp) because I live in a flat state. I found the trailer hitch that will fit the 2008 xB, but have not been able to find any information as to if this towing idea is even possible.

Installing a small supercharger or turbo (~$2.5k) to help with the torque/hp is not out of the question. But I want to know if anyone has had success in towing with the xB's and what it was you all tow. Thanks!

I had a 05 Xb, I wouldn't dare tow with it. It would carry alot of wieght, but that vehicle sits very low to begin with. All the suspension and brakes are borrowed from a corolla. I don't know dude, that's a little too risky for me.

Kind of what I gathered. Its a disappointment. I really like the gas economy and vehicle price. The dealer said it towed, but those guys don't know up from down.

Thanks for the input. If anyone has towed with success, please share. Thanks

the new ones have the 2AZ motor that is borrowed from the 4 cyl camry's. Got better brakes, disc all around. should be a better car. the old on was basically an echo with a new body. 1.5 liter motor. great on gas though...

all the same motor. toyota really like to do that. that 2.4l 2AZ motor is in 4 cyl camrys, new xB's, 4 cyl highlanders and TC's. and who knows, maybe in the new corolla's. just like the 3.5l. also in everything. avalon, camry, new highlander, sienna, es 350, etc etc. you get the point...

based on vehicle weight of just over 3k, and the lower end brakes / suspension, I just don't know how confident I am with towing 1000-2000 lbs. Wish I could try before I buy!

I dont advise doing any towing with it as someone mentioned it's really low and to add that it is a front wheel drive with the weight I think it might squat in the rear and lightin the front so as when you try to pull up the ramp you might get slippage...btw when you say you found a hitch that fits do you mean it was made for it or it just happens to fix close enough? just curious...
