Just thought I would post a couple of pics of my Tundra towing my new Land Cruiser...all 7500+lbs from LA to Phoenix. Didn't realize the LC exceeded the weight allowance of the U-Haul trailer until we got home. The Tundra did great even in the desert heat and through the mountain passes. Mileage sucked, but oh well.
That's a pretty good load I'm glad everything went smoothly. Those Land Cruiser's weight 5,500 lbs easy + 2k for the trailer. I'm guessing U-Haul thought it was one of the new FJ Cruiser's instead of the Land Cruiser? That poor trailer was overloaded by 37%, but it does look good!

U-Haul only knew that I was renting a trailer and that an 06 Corolla was being towed
Corolla eh? Nice bumper, i would be tempted to run people off roads if i had that bumper and how people drive here. it's nice to know an 05 DC can tow that much with no major problems.

I'll have to check the approach angle sometime. Just a standard ARB though and 2.5" Hoes.
I usually ride on 285 Revos which is why I have the lift. I figured I'd better throw the 265's on to tow with. Probablly could have kept the 285's on with no problem.
I tow a travel trailer weighing in about 5800 dry and with all my equipment, about 7000. I put the K&N cold air intake system in and cat back magnaflow exhaust. works like a dream!!
When you were towing the Land Cruiser did you keep the overdrive off the whole trip or did you kick it in when you got up to freeway speed to help with the gas mileage ? I'll be towing from KC to Houston and was wondering the best way to do it.
When you're towing that much load, keep the OD off. It isn't as heavy of design as the other gears, and will quickly burn up the tranny if abused. It's not worth the mileage you MIGHT get. I say might, cause often, when pulling a heavy load, you WANT to keep the engine in it's optimum RPM range for power and economy.
Unless it's a light utility trailer, you'll most likely get better mileage with the OD off.
