My opinion is that the P3 just looks cooler and is a little smaller with LCD display. As far as I know they both perform the same function. I have the 2.6v Prodigy and it does just fine with my dual axle brakes on my racecar trailer.

The P-3 seems to do the same job as the Prodigy and has a larger front than the Prodigy (see the post about the P-3 install to see the size of the front):

I would buy the P3 based on its looks alone!

That said, it wasn't on the market when I got the Prodigy. Here is how I installed it:

jliltd - that is exactly where I plan on putting mine... 3 questions...... did you just stick it in there or is it fixed in there w/ bracket or velcro..... second..... what is the wire coming out and into your aux? Did you paint the exposed metal at the top of the opening or just leave it bare? it is hard to tell from pick

That wire is my audio in. I bought the Prodigy Plus controller with the optional built-in MP3 player.

I removed not only the ash tray but the metal bracket also.

Here's a link to my install description:

http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...-a/#post620905

And here is a link to how I got into the dash on the bench seat model:

Where to mount my brake controler?

Oh, yeah. About the Prodigy "Plus" with built-in MP3. Here's where the wire really originates:

Sometimes I wish we had the luxury of having the brake controller integrated into the dash, like Ford...I'm going to buy the Prodigy controller soon. Thanks for the pics, I definately plan on putting where PS-Rage did; unfortanutely, I use that cubby where jliltd put his...

I got the P3 for my Tundra and put it in the cubby hole below the tow haul switch in front of the shifter. Used the wire loom 3040 and it was a easy install. The P3 is pretty cool as you can change the display color to suit your taste .

yup, I paid 160 a month ago and thought that was a good deal. I do have a $20 rebate to send in, bringing back to 140.

You got a good deal on it.

I have a Primus, which is the step below the prodigy, this is the 4th vehicle it's been mounted in (5 years!) and it has been great!!! If I ever decide to replace it, I'll probably go with the p3, and wire an on/off switch so it's not always lit up when not in use.

Mounted it in the center cubby between the 2 power ports in front of the cup holders.

The P3 auto-shuts-off after 10 minutes, it does not reactivate until you touch the brake pedal, but it is always on with or with out a trailer being connected. No connection, it stays on its home screen unless you set it to trouble shoot mode.

All of which seems very annoying to me. My primus is always on too, but when not connected the only thing that lights up is one dim LED light when you hit the brakes, and at night it is a little noticible, but not bad. I large bright display would drive me nuts at night if it wasn't for something I needed.

Should be easy enough to just wire a small on/off switch inline to the power.

It's really not that intrusive the main screen is really quite dim. Besides you can put it into troubleshoot mode and watch battery voltage and a bunch of other stuff.
