First Post(hello) First Question-Trailer wiring how to..

I searched around but could not find the answer to my question. So, hello to all. This seems to be an educated board so hopefully you folks can help me out.

I need to hook up a 4-pin trailer light plug on a 2004 Tacoma. It is a double cab TRD package 4x4 but it does not have the towing package that includes trailer light hookup. This plug will be for a utility trailer so no brakes or anything extravagent is required.

Is there difficulty in splicing into the harness to hook up the trailer lights?
Any instructions on how to perform this with a standard plug with pigtails? I.E. the 4-pin plug with bare wires and splicing into the truck.

I don't know about on your Tacoma, but when I towed a U-haul with my old 93 Ford Ranger all I did was go to the auto parts store and buy a prewired harness that plugged into my ranger’s rear tail light wiring harness and gave me trailer light plug. I would imagine you can get something similar for your Tacoma.

I wired a T-100 about a year ago, and used a similar kit. It was easier than splicing, and should hold up as well, or better!
