Towing a 30ft trailer 10,000+ lbs....sagging...with pictures
I'll let the pictures do the talking. but i should add that our drop down hitch was 4'' and should of been 2''.
after a long day of towing.
so it drove nice, lots of rocking though, but brakes good, feels a little under powered...seems like i need a supercharger after all. also need to get the right hitch

I'm glad your tundra survived that..... you are right about needing a 2" drop..... the tongue weight on that beast is unbelievable..... you may even need a 2" raised.....

yeah, it has 5.7 and tow package, but keep in mind that the trailer is probably closer to 11,000 or 12,000 lbs...my fathers escalade EXT tows it fine though. but doesnt have as good braking, but we both have the same brake controllers, and we use something called a hensley hitch.
Re: Towing a 30ft trailer 10,000+ lbs....sagging...with pictures
You have some large ones with that much weight. I know that you have the brake controller, but I still don't have the guts. What a testamonial on what the Tundra can do!

everything held up fine, it was a little clunky, had to put it in s once or twice, but i live in one of the hilliest places in the US.the only thing this beast needs is more power. and its something the supercharger can satisfy. but it seriously stops on a dime.

Your dad's EXTs tows the 11,000LBS just fine?? Whats the tow limit on the those Escalades 8-9K LBS? When you meant just fine, meaning the swaying part?? or it just feels more stable??
Re: Towing a 30ft trailer 10,000+ lbs....sagging...with pictures
well the ext has air bags, so that stops the rear sag, but its funny because the tongue almost touches the ground before the air bags start filling up. also it has more power then our tundras. a 6.1 liter i believe with over 400 ft/lbs of torque. other then sag and the power, our trucks blow the caddy out of the water. i might need to add a leaf or add some bags to help the sag though.
Re: Towing a 30ft trailer 10,000+ lbs....sagging...with pictures
yeah the hitch is top of the line, and is amazing the difference between a ball and this hitch.
simple lay out of the hitch can be found here, Hensley Arrow
i recommend it to anyone who does heavy duty towing. there is no sway whatsoever. i was skeptical at first, but my father insisted, and it turned out to be night and day difference. i attribute some of the ability of towing this much with the tundra to the hitch. although there are somethings i must add to the truck before i try towing this trailer again.

If it's a brand new escalade, it's a 6.2 rated at 403/417. It's a beast, but not a sig diff officially from the Yota 5.7. If it's not a brand new escalade, the Yota CLEARLY has the better motor.
I do suspect the cady 6.2 will dyno a good bit more trq than the yota on the same dyno.
Re: Towing a 30ft trailer 10,000+ lbs....sagging...with pictures
So even over capacity and with the wrong ball mount, that's all it sagged? You might have even exceeded the payload and not just the tow capacity with the tongue that low. Pretty impressive.
