04 Dcab towing package quest.

Possibly a stupid question, but...

Doing some work on my car trailer today and was poking around under the truck (04 dcab) to find a spot to mount some nice backup lights and found myself scratching my head regarding the hitch.

The receiver is bolted to this huge sub-frame w/ 4-bolts. Two through the "bumper" and two through this large subframe. The bumper is bolted to this subframe as well.

I was curious as I wouldn't normally look at this and think "class V" hitch. So I called two dealers and had them run my vin - both said it's setup with the towing package, but I'm still looking at it with crossed eyes...

Can anyone confirm/deny my thoughts?

If you have a factory reciever, then I would say it has the tow package. But in class IV not 'V', and should be rated for the 6800lbs or so .

But Im not sure what your saying. Did you install an additional reciever on the truck?

The truck came with the receiver, but it's not what I would consider a traditional style. The receiver section bolts to the bottom of this subrame much like those cheap Fleet Farm receivers bolt to the bottom of a bumper...

I'm going to head to the local dealer and take a peak under some used truck just to be sure.
