Default My first towing experience

Its nothing big but its the first thing that Ive towed other than a jet ski. Towed a car to Dallas then picked up my buddies car that just had a parachute and a roll cage installed and brought it from dallas. You guys will laugh when I tell you its a Civic but its a pretty quick one to say the least. I really didn't know what to expect from the truck but I was very pleased. I would say with the trailer and the car, towing weight was between 4k-5k pounds plus 3 passengers. We couldn't even tell the trailer was back there except when we came to a hill and the engine had to downshift. Some how we managed to average between 13-13.5 mpg the entire trip, thats running between 70-75mph 90% of the time. To me the truck seemed to ride smoother while towing the trailer then when its not even hooked up. All of us were real happy with the mileage and how good the truck performed on the trip. Needless to say my truck is now desiginated as the official trailer hauler, lol.

Glad you had a nice tow experience. It rode nicer because you eliminated the bed-bounce by putting a load in the rear. Rode smoother huh? I like the ride better too when there is some weight in the back.

Towed with my '07 5.7L CrewMax for the first time yesterday. Nothing to get excited over, a 1000 pound utility trailer with about 1000 pounds in it. Used S4 with tow/haul mode on. Couldn't stand hearing it reved so high, so I let it into 5th by switching to S5.

Hard to tell it was back there, save for some strange oscillations over bumps characteristic of pulling a trailer. Got nearly 18 mpg. Very pleased.

later,
b
