I just got a 2007 Tundra,4x4,crewmax,limited.5.7 v8. I want to tow a toy hauler with it , so I purchased from Toyota the towing mirrors. The mirror installation was a snap, 15 mins. per mirror. The problem I have is that the L.E.D. turn signals on the mirrors work just fine; However, the L.E.D.s for the running lights do not work at all. I called the dealer and they were not any help at all , they just said that they were probably not suppose to work. I I would think that they should work since they are toyota mirrors and the fact that the mirrors come with the running lights installed in them from the factory. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be and can it be resolved ? The running lights are not a necessity but it would be nice if I could get them working .
I too have a CM LTD and was thinking about buying the tow mirrors. Mine came with the standard mirrors and if I were to opt for the tow mirrors from the factory they would have removed:
2 position driver memory (seat, steering wheel, mirrors)
Power telescoping & power tilt steering wheel (would have been manual)
Power folding mirrors (I realize the tow mirrors do not have the motors for this)
I will not be towing that often so having the ability to use the power features on a daily basis is more important to me but would like to swap in the tow mirrors when I do need them, then switch back after. Are you going to be swaping the mirrors or are you planning on leaving the tow mirrors on all the time?
I have a few questions if you don't mind:
How much were the towing mirrors?
Do you have a part number?
Did you need any special tools or instructions to install them?
Do you think it will OK to swap the regular mirrors and tow mirrors back and forth say 5 or 6 times a year with out wearing out any retaining clips or such?
Thanks,
Dave

This will be an AWESOME tow vehicle....now I just need a boat

I have a Limited DC that I recently swaped the chrome mirrors for a set of tow mirrors, everything on the tow mirrors works.
There should be 12 wires at the mirror connection.
I am going ask you a silly question 1st, so don't take this the wrong way...
Are you turning on the head/running lights?
Daytime running lights are different (always on), you actually have to turn on the headlight switch for the mirror's led running lights to work.

10 mm deep socket, a small screwdriver for prying panels and releasing the tabs on the plastic centering pin

Honestly, NO, I personally think the plastic clips and rubber seals will prematurely wear out
I could only answer a couple of them, see the red text...

I did turn the lights on , but the only thing that works are the turn signals.
It was a good thought about the lights , I had them to the on position not the auto position. You mentioned the connector, the connector on the mirrors I took off were 18 pin connectors, not 12 pin, and one of the positions has no pin in it . The way the plug is keyed you can not plug it in the wrong way.

I never said 12 pin.
I said I have 12 wires going to the mirror. Yes the connector will hold 18, but mine only has 12 in it.
I have seen others that only have 8, and some that only have 3.
Good luck figuring it out.

I think the difference is between the DC model and the Crewmax model. I think I will check the vo. on the connector of the truck to see if one of the pins go hot when the lights are turned on. I think the difference in the wiring of the DC and Crewmax Ltd wiring is the area of contention . If anyone has any info I would appreciate the info.
I have another question relating to LEDs in 07 towing mirrors. I need to remove the lenses. Does anybody know if I can remove them from the outside - or do I need to loosen or remove the entire signal housing, I noticed two star head screws behind the mirror glass.
I just did this install last night on my sr5 dc that originally had heated mirrors. I had 8 wires to the plug, and the new tow mirrors had 8 pins.. all went well, but I cannot figure out how people are doing this without taking the door panel off. I couldn't get to the bottom 2 nuts. I also had the plastic peg on the back of each mirror that is just above the plug break on the old mirrors as I was trying to remove them.... Something that nobody mentioned.
I simply lifted the door panel slightly so it came free of the slot for the side window; then whilst applying slight pressure to keep the panel forward you should have more than enough space to get a 10mm socket on to each bolt.
No door panel removal for me either.
