Hi I have a 2007 Tundra CrewMax that I want to use to tow a Travel Trailer. I currently have a 29 footer that it tows great, I have sway control and equalizer in the hitch setup. I want to upgrade the trailer to possibly a 34 footer, but I'm not sure if the Tundra can handle that length (or if I really want to tow that thing).
Does anyone have a formula to calculate what the reasonable trailer length is that can be towed with the Tundra? I don't want to push the limits too hard, so I'm just wondering what the limits are and what people's experience is with the '07 Tundra.

I'm sure you can do it. But IMO, i wouldn't tow any TT bigger than yours, period.
I prefer the 5er setup. I tow a 25' 5er now, but used to tow a 23' TT. I'll tell you one thing, i will never go back to a TT.
If you had the Double Cab long bed I would think you wouldn't have much of an issue with sway, but the Crew Max wheel base is quite a bit shorter. Would you consider a Hensley Arrow for $3,000? A Hensley Arrow would probably make a 34 footer tow better than a 29 footer with a traditional sway control setup. I would wait for Tom Hole and Rockey Mountain Ray to chime in, I am sure they will have the calculation you are looking for. I have seen it on RV.net but couldn't find it when looking for it again.

I was able to find this formula over at RV.net... "My trailer guide at home suggests 100" for 20', plus 4" per foot thereafter. " With that being said, the biggest trailer you would want to pull with your crew max is 31.25 feet. I think if you really wanted a 34 foot trailer you could invest in a Hensley Arrow and be fine!

Just my opinion
Mind if I ask about your fifth wheel setup? We just bought a 2007 Tundra 5.7 V8 with tow pkg and would like to upgrade to fifth wheel. any tips would be appreciated. Don't understand this payload stuff.

If you don't have the crewmax, you'll be fine.
The only thing is: You have to find one under 7000 lbs to be close to your GVWR on the truck. And the lighter the better.
I am slightly over. My trailer weighs 6250 dry & 1250 pin dry. It sleeps up to 8 people (6 comfortably), has 2 bunks, double popout, and tows like a dream.
Look in my photo gallery and you'll see some pics of my trailer & my hitch setup.
Also search the forum on 5th wheel trailers, and you'll see some more posts from me and others.
question > where is the pre-wire in the Tundra for the trailer brake? I assume there is a pre-wire that i will only have to clip in the brake controller. that is how my last Ford worked. any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance,
kpl

It is behind the drivers side kick panel. Pull off the door sills, then remove the kick panel and there is a dummy plug near the top area.
You can buy the wire connector that you can just plug and play.
