Default Can you upgrade transmission/diff./steering for towing and plowing?

I know that for increased towing capacities and plowing you'd need bigger tires/wheels/brakes/suspension/cooling but are there upgrades for the transmission/steering and differential that would allow an increase in towing capacity and possible plowing (I know you can't really plow with a stock 05 doublecab as you'll have transmission issues). I've seen domestic auto transmission upgrades on the show Trucks. They opened up the tranny and put stronger parts in it and I think a larger tranny cooler. Maybe the diff too. I believe 282 hp is plenty to plow with but for some reason the Tundra's tranny doesn't like to plow.

There are more then 1 on this board that plow with the tundra and I believe I have seen a double cab as well.

You can install a larger tranny cooler many on here have for towing reasons. They can work the transmission a little many on here have done it when they went with a supercharger or the owner of the "Mean Green Machine" had his motor completly built so I am sure he does not have a stock transmission.

Maybe a lower gear set for the diffs would help.

SOS offers big brake kits for the front and disc brake conversions for the rear.

Wheels are available every where. Tires are the same for a domestic.

Steering is a hard one. I have seen the racks be rebuilt for offroad applications which includes strengthening But I am not sure what you are looking for here.

I shortened your question....

Legally, NO. No matter what upgrades you do, the weight ratings on the truck remain the same, and if you excede those ratings you run the risk of tickets and/or litigation if something goes wrong that can be atributable to the weight.

Actually, I have no idea what would be need to increase the tow capacity for a Tundra (or plow ability for that matter). I didn't build the truck. We can all guess and put in "upgrades", but who knows if that's the limiting factor. Maybe we just strengthened the strongest link.

Towing is easy, get a bigger truck. Plowing is harder. My BIL plows a lot. Started with a Dodge 1500 and that was bad (blown tranny's and engines). Went to a Chevy 2500 oil and the tranny is going out on it. I'm not sure there is a transmission on a light duty truck that can survive plowing. Maybe plowing is not light duty.

Sorry I added no useful information. By the time you upgrade all that stuff, you could trade your Tundra in on a 3/4 ton diesel. It won't be as nice as a Tundra, though.
