Default 2007Tundra & Understanding 5th wheel hitches

I just got my 07 Tundra, 5.7, Longbed, Doublecab I actually traded my motor home for this and I want to purchase a lighter weight 5th wheel rv.
I however, know just about nothing about that 5th wheel hitch and putting it on my longbed. I guess I am looking for 5th wheel for dummies type book. Here are some questions:

1. Do they bolt right through the bed and to the frame or just to the bottom of the bed? (I would use the rails).
2. Are they made to custom fit the truck or are they universal for all pickups?
3. How is the wiring and trailer brakes hooked to the truck....brake controller? Wire runs to the back of the bumper?
4. I have a bed liner, can I use it and if so are holes/slots usually cut in the liner for the rails?
Thanks for all your help.

1- I'm not too familiar with the 5th wheel type. But on my hidden hitch which is a gooseneck type, it mounts to the frame. I imagine your rail system would as well.
2- custom fit, i beleive.
3- trailer brake controller wiring is behind the kick plate (drivers side) & you have a harness that came with the truck.
4- i've seen them right on top of the bedliner's before. Don't know if it's the right way to do it though.

Look in my gallery for pics of my hitch setup, I like it myself.

1. They bolt directly to the frame.
2. I was talking to the Super Gluide rep and he told me that there are different kits for different model of pickups.
3. Yes you can run it to the bumper. My in-laws had the female part of the plug set into the wheel well.

4. Again my hitch rep said that they can bolt directly on a sprayed in liner but if it's a drop in liner, part of it will need to be removed to make good contact with the bed bottom.

Now with all of that said...you do understand that our Tundra's have a very limited cargo capacity? I think 1,500 lbs and that includes passengers. That sure doesn't leave much room for pin weight does it?

Rockwood makes a light fiver with an advertised 900lb pin weight (the lightest I have found) but I have been told by many that those numbers are highly suspect. I was leaning that direction myself but will probably stay with a pull traler. If you find out differently please post the info here. I would like to know.

Travel safely.

Bill
