Default E-track and 1st Aluminum Trailer

Hey guys. Hello and here is my first post to the forum. I plan to purchase a Featherlite open aluminum trailer to tow my '69 Camaro SS. I have a '06 Taco access cab, 4WD with the tow package.

I have read a lot of good information on the site. Based on that, I plan to use a weight distributing hitch and get the Progidy electric brake controller. I think those are the way to go with the Featherlite.

Here is my question. Has anybody used the "E-track" system to "tie down" a car with "wheel bonnets" instead of the more conventional axle and A-frame straps? I do not understand how the E-track is attached to the solid aluminum bed since the E-track has a raised surface that the strap hooks attach into. Do you drive on the track with the tires and have the car sit on top of the track? That does not seem like a good idea since the tire is not fully bearing on the bed of the trailer. I do not know how this system would work. Would they be attached to the bed just outside of the wheels? Finally, there does not appear to be any "large" fasteners to connect the track to the bed, just a bunch of small holes spaced close together.

Or, if anybody has suggestions on the proper way to tie down the car they would be greatly appreciate. I have read that it is better to tie down the wheels of a car instead of the axle and A frame.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Donald

I use axle straps in the back and r-hooks in the front. I haven't used e-track. Just curious, how much will the camaro and trailer weigh?

Thanks for the reply FrankOC. The featherlite weighs in at 1400 pounds and the Camaro is around 3500 - 3600 curb weight. Together they are 5000 pounds give or take a few.

wd hitch and prodigy are the way to go, I tow a 5k car trailer on my tundra, (in my member photos). I bought my tie downs at, Macs Custom Tie Downs - Professional Grade Tie-Down Straps, Systems, and Other Gear on a great recommendation from another member here.

Thanks again FrankOC for the advice. I posted two pics of the Camaro on the site. Click on the camera icon at my name to view. Not to talk about "other" rides on the Toyota site but it is a numbers matching big block SS car with the houndstooth interior.
