Default Trailer Towing Capacity??

Hi; new guy here.

I have a 2005 Double Cab Tundra 4x4, which is a great truck, but much to my dissappointment the trailer towing capaity is very limited. I don't want a hybrid, but I need to sleep 5-6 people comfortable, with one bed being a queen.

I plan on using a weight distributor, sway bar and electric brakes.

I'm looking at a Syline Nomads 228. They advertise 3825 pounds, but I believe by the time the new trailer is weighed, it probably comes out around 4600 pounds with options. The trailer is 25', toungue to bumper.

In your experiences, is this trailer too big? I want to be sure I'm towing confortably, as I don't want to die, nor do I want to harm my truck.

What's the max weight I should look for. What's the max length?

All advise is appreciated......Thank you............

I wrote the following before I realized you are talking about a 2005 Tundra. I have no idea what the 2005 is rated to tow.....but I know a 2007 5.7 would tow your trailer with no problem!

I pull a 25' Fleetwood Wilderness travel trailer. I weighed it on a scale...it was 5400# with all tanks empty, propane full. That's was before we loaded up for a trip, so I would guess that travel weight was somewhere around 6000#. I use a WD hitch, & Prodigy brake controller. Truck/trailer weight came in just under 11,800#. I towed it from Arizona to Arkansas and back with no problems. My average mpg was 11mpg @60mph. My only real complaint with the Tundra 5.7/ 6speed powertrain is that using the cruise control causes constant down/up shifting, and terrible mileage. I had to use my foot for the whole 3500 mile trip.

Coincidentally, 11,800 pounds is the maximum the 05 can tow. That includes everything, including the truck.
