Whats the most i can tow on a stock 2007 Tundra 4x4 4.7
I dont have the tow package that has a tow haul mode.
The website says its 7700 but i dont know if thats assuming i have a Tow Haul mode or not. I have NEVER towed anything and was just curious in the event i have to pull a freinds boat or anything.

Tow/Haul is the six speed transmission only with the 5.7L.

Do you still have your window sticker?

My window sticker for my RCLB 4x4 4.7L says MY tow capacity is 8100 lbs.

I am guessing, yes, yours will say 7700 lbs.

Yeah thats what i thought it was just wanted to make sure. The Reg Cab 4x4s are Bad A$$!!! i would have got one if i didnt need the back seat room. They look very nice. Especially in TRD.

Have you ever pulled anything close to the limit? Does the stability of the vehicle suffer a lot?

I'd be more concerned about the payload capacity while towing. Toyota lists the cargo capacity of your truck at 1370 lbs for a bone stock truck. Look at the sticker on the B pillar, driver side door jam. It should say "Total weight of all passengers and cargo should not exceed" or words to that effect. This is the max your truck can hold and anything you hitch to the truck will eat into that.

I looked at a 4x2 SR5 TRD CrewMax today. Toyota lists the cargo capacity as 1605 lbs. Even says it on the window sticker. That's a pipe dream. The door pillar placard said 1370 lbs. I'd bet a dime on a donut that no salesman EVER points out that placard so folks know what the real cargo capacity is.

If I loaded my family and our typical camping gear in that truck, we would have about 400 lbs left for hitch weight. Toyota needs to do something about the GVWR of these CrewMax's.

I guess having a 5 people in the car and some gear will drastically bring down my towing capacity from the 7700 toyota claims then.
I was curious b/c if i ever rented a RV to pull in the back id want to know whats the biggest i can go.

When you figure out your GVW you must also figure in the hitch weight of the trailer you are towing. The hitch weight should be 10% - 15% of the total weight of the trailer. My trailer (25' 1975 Airstream) weighs in at around 5000 lbs loaded and the hitch weight is around 650 lbs.

Thanks that helps. the 10-15% will help me estimate how much i can tow safely.
