Obviously those items are available..............just not in the SR5 pkg. Mine came with the sliding window and styled steels but those are not part of the SR5 pkg.

dude up there was correct about 5,000 pounds being the max on a bumper hitch. that is standard across all trucks. The reason for that is 'toungue weight', which isn't how much weight you are dragging behind you (GVW) but how much force is pushing down on the bumper at any time.
when you have a receiver hitch (that is the female piece mounted below the bumper) you can tow much more because it is secured to the frame. good news is that you can do this aftermarket. On my Tacoma, about four trucks ago, I had U-haul install one. It was a class 3 receiver hitch with a 2" ball and it was about $150 for parts and labor. Quite surprinsingly, they did an outstanding job. Also, they didn't put those stupid 'draw tite' or 'uhaul' stickers on it... so the whole thing looked stock!
next piece after getting yourself a receiver hitch is a brake controller. Those are only about $100 and you can easily install yourself. Do a search around here and you will find all kinds of explainy goodness.
take care, man. Get out there and start towing some ****!

I maybe wrong but I don't think SR5 includes power seats, sliding window, mud flaps, fog lamps, or styled steel wheels.
I can't say for the '08 but my '07 SR5 has the styled wheels only.
I do have the sliding window $325 extra (waste of money), mud flaps $60 (i think) extra. However, NO power seats (good thing), NO fog lamps (not good).

.............but they're not included in the SR5 pkg, as was stated earlier.

Guess Toyota screwed up when they built my SR5 because all that stuff was on my truck when I bought it. The only "Extra" listed on the sticker was the Alloy wheels.
Besides, this Thread was about towing capacity....why get so far off-topic??

SR5 wasn't also listed on your sticker? Hummmmm.

Of course it stated SR5, that's what I intended to buy. I bought it because it had the tow package, tow mirrors, the 7 pin and 4 pin electrical plugs, and could tow over 10k pounds, which was the original question.

Plus the other 2 coolers and the 4.30 rear end gears.
So are you saying that the Tundra is rated at +10k lbs if you add the 4.30 gears? What about 4.10 gears or 3.73 gears? If that's the case 4.30 gears is going to have a huge impact on MPG when you're not towing.
I believe the 4.30 gears are only available with the 5.7 and the Tow Pkg. EPA sticker says 16/20 cty/hwy. With the 6 speed auto, the engine is loafing along at only 1800 rpm @ 70 mph due to the .58 O/D.

..............but your previous post said "the only "Extra" listed on the sticker was the alloy wheels". Key word - 'only'.

Double cab SR5 has 8 way power drivers seat
slidding rear window with rear privacy glass
tilt/telo wheel
6 CD changer
Chrome Grill surround (most tundra grades have this as an added option)
Power heated side mirrors ( " " " " " )
Mud guards
Tow package
and fog lights no. they are an option on both grade and SR5. but I have yet to see an SR5 without them.
If I should install an after market receiver and braking system
where would that leave me. I wouldnt have the trans or PS cooler or the above mentioned gears. I would think the max listed at 10700 would be if all the ducks were in order.

Wow, that is impressive. My Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins has 3.73 gears and turns 1950 RPMs at 70MPH, but I have the old 4sp auto/od.
My neighbor has a 2007 Tundra SR5 DC LWB 5.7 with tow package and he told me he averages 12mpg and the best he's seen on the highway is 16mpg averaging 70mph. He loves his truck, but he's not pleased with the mileage. I told him about the reset computer trick so he's gonna try it.
