Default Tips for towing travel trailer?

Anybody out there got any tips for safe, proper towing of an 8400 lb. (loaded), 26' travel trailer. I have a 2008 double cab, 4WD, Limited? You know - tow mode or not, cruise control, engine braking, which gear for best performance and MPGs? Thanks in advance

Good WDH is a necessaty.....equilizer, hensley arrow. Also you need a good inertia type brake controller like the prodigy or p-3. 10 ply tires should be on the list also, and air them up to 60psi all around. Also be sure you have at least 10-15% tongue weight which would be 840-1260lbs.

Tow mode----yes.

cruise control----no except for downhill. This will provide you with the engine braking automatically.

I use S-5 when i tow, it stays out of 6th that way & on the freeway seems to be the right gear.

Best mpg?---stay under 65mph.

i have a sydney outback 32bhds, this is 35' hitch to bumper and weighs 8250lbs ready to camp.
i have added supersprings , new rear shocks, "E" rated tires, and TRD rear sway bar along with a prodigy P3 rake controller. I am using a reese high performance dual cam hitch and wouldnt use anything less for sway and weight control.
when towing i use tow/haul mode on and leave the tranny in drive, sometimes i use cruise control depending on the situation and terrain.
fuel consumption is 8-9 mpg while towing at 65mph, this is common with most small block gas trucks and it is very similar to my previous dodge hemi.
