Default fifthwheel towing

im confused , my 08 tundra dc lb has a weight capacity of 1635lbs
i understand we shouldnt exceed this weight but taking into consideration 2 adults 2 children and full tank of gas ,you dont have much
A travel trailer is towed behind the rear axle the weight is more felt then on a fifthwheel hitch but yet it still cant exceed the 1635lbs
You can install a weight distributer for a TT if you exceed the tongue weight a fifthwheel doesnt need it
My question is my fifthwheel is a 1997 keystone sprinter weighs 7100lbs ,dont know the pin weight tried to look for it.The label is non readable ,tried to find it on line
Now im not too sure about my purchase , i dont want to have problems going down to states . I guess i made a good choice keeping my old ford !!!

We could try to figure it out with the trailer length and comparing to similar sprinters made today. Would prob get you within a few hundred pounds.

You could also hook up to it and take it to a CAT scale. Weigh it. Find out what your rear axle truck weight is...I would put air bags on it first tho. Not very expensive on line. Check out some of the other threads...

thanks it a 1997 keystone sprinter 275bh
i looked on the frt left corner it is not readable the tag
i have all the books that came with it it is general info
i looked in theupper cuppards over sink it just tells me capacities of the tanks and how much they weigh
i could hitch it up and weigh it but if im over weight there is no use ,i might have problems going through the states
i think i will weigh it on my f 250 before and find out how much it weighs first
still think the weight of 1365 is bogus for this truck
how can you pull 10300lbs and not have any pin weight

You can't. That's why it's important to weigh your rig. Lots of ggid info from real towers on this board that can help you tow safely.

ok my pin weight is 1260lbs .I called keystone direct to find this out ,That doesnt leave me much im allowed 1635?.What is the problem is it the passanger tires they put on these rigs or is the suspension that bad or both .also i was told that air bags in the back cracks frames as it tends to stress the weight in on area ,that an add a leaf was better

that is a great question, i wondered what the limiting factor was also,, i am guessing the axle load rating ( limited by the passenger tires ) ??

I would love to know the "weakest link"
