We're getting our new fifth wheel ready for summer camping, just got 10 ply tires, Firestone airbags, and P3 brake controller. Now I'm thinking it would be handy to have a good portable air compressor for checking tire pressure and adjusting air bag levels on our trips. From what I have been reading, the 12 volt ones take forever to inflate, so I'm thinking an electric one would be good. We also have a generator for power. I was looking at the DeWalt D55140. Anyy suggestions on a good choice?
Tomhole,
Thank you for the recommendation! After much online research, we decided to go with your advice. Should be here in the next week or so. I'll let you know how it works. I have posted a photo of the unit. Quite reasonably priced as well.
I went to Walmart and picked this rechargeable unit up (45 $). I must say it works well. Seems similar to the Sears Craftsman unit I noticed the other day at the store. Anyhow it uses 115V, or 12V, or runs on batt. I wish it had a longer airhose tho. Seems dumb to be so short. But is great for adjusting airbags or filling tires to full when needed. I bought a tire repair (puncture) kit and keep a pliers, the kit, and this compressor in a bag. If I get a nail, I intend to fix it when the tire is still on the trailer and keep going!

thanks for the info! I'll let you know how the one we bought works after this weekend! I am taking my camera!
Interesting you should mention that. I ordered mine from amazon for $89, only to find them at Costco a few days later for the price you mentioned. I called amazon and they matched he priced and refunded my credit card. I really researched them and everyone seems to like them. We're trying ours out today as we leave for our camping trip this weekend. Will let you know.
Get a real compressor. I got a Sears 125 PSI 1-1/2 HP 3-Gallon compressor for $99 on sale. Your 5th wheel probably has a generator, so why get a portable when you can get the real thing. The space taken is approximate to two 12-packs of bottled beer. You be the judge. Edit: Darn, too late as you've already made your decision, but if things don't work out then keep this in mind.

Thanks for the good information. We'll keep it in mind if the one we got doesn't work well for us!
