Default Trailor lighting problems

I have installed a trailer light kit in my 02 tundra from hoppy, and have had nothing but problems with it. It will work for a while but then will stop working. right now when i plug it in all the trailer lights gone on and the directionals don't work. I have brought it back and gotten new kits but run into same problem.

Except heavy trucks and trailers which use a standard wiring code, I've never seen two trailers wired the same way. Most everyone uses a test light and small jumper wire to determine which wire goes to what on any trailer. The truck too for that matter unless the truck plug has the color codes stamped on it.

Green is right turn signal & yellow is left and that is the standard color code with all trailers and vehicles. Brown is side marker/park/running lights and white is ground, also industry standard. Can't get much more simple than that. If the tow vehicle has brake lights that are separate from the turn signal lights, an adapter is required. A very good ground between the tow vehicle and trailer is required or else trailer lights won't work correctly.
