This is a discussion thread titled "hitch installed on dcsb sport", within the Towing forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
First a look at the beast, class IV ultra frame by draw tite. 84 pounds by itself.
first you remove these little angle brackets, save the bolts they are important!
Next get that bad boy up there, I used a two by four and a jack, this is when you find out that the bumper has to be trimmed and the wire harness needs to be moved. Remove the bracket for the trailer plug first if you want to remain sane. A utility knife works pretty well for the trimming.
Here we go, mounting the plug took longer than the hitch install. Toyota does not give you much wire to work with so thats about where the plug has to stay.
Man, Im glad my D/C CAME with a hitch already installed. I thought I read somewhere that it is a Class V hitch???

Looks like it mounts pretty close to how the Factory integrated hitch does.
Nope, class IV
Cool.

Hey I've been thinking about getting this hitch. Did you get it from etrailer.com? And did your truck already have the wiring harness or did you have to buy that too?

I had that same hitch installed on my RCSB with SAP. A little tight fitting between the plastic center bumper and the hitch. But otherwise, it fits well. The only problem is that if you have a TRD Sway Bar, the links will hit the hitch frame. So for the meantime, my sway bar is off until I find a longer M14 and M12 bolts. Or maybe cut some of the hitch frame to give way for the links.
A beefy one indeed. Installed it just to stiffen up the rear frame.
Here are some pics:
where did you get it from? i need to purchase one. would appreciate the help. nice write up too!

From what I've come to know, class IV hitches are for up to 10K lbs. Above that, a class V hitch is required.
Since our advertised tow capacity is 10,800 lbs, I'd say that make the factory hitch a class V.

Black Beauty... So new and so much to do (with the wife's approval, too)!
Future mods:
LineX; Magnaflow duals w/Xpipe; CAI
Perf Tuner (when avail)
Color matched Grille, w/Billet insert; Fr and Rr bumpers, Wheel Flares
Levelling Kit; Wheels/Tires
Front windows tinted to match rears
Speaker upgrades w/custom Sub-Amp and head unit
Just FYI the draw tight hitch that Mtrosclair installed is classified as a Class IV & V Ultra Frame Receiver Hitch according to Etrailer . The website also rates this hitch for 12,000lbs. I'm not sure how the rating system works but I think that hitch would be more than enough for towing needs.

I bought it locally but only because I needed it for tomorrow, if I had been willing to wait I could have gotten it from e-trailer for 274.xx. and yes its a class IV/V 12000 lbs or 14000 weight distributing, not that the truck could handle it but the hitch could. ZBFB just go to e-trailer and look up model number 41935...

Well, yes and no...
From Toyota's towing guide page 6.
"
HITCH SELECTION:
Hitches on factory towing packages will correspond to the vehicle’s tow rating. If the truck doesn’t have a hitch, then the following industry guidelines should be observed when selecting one:
• Class II: up to 3,500 pounds
• Class III: up to 5,000 pounds
• Class IV: up to 10,000 pounds
These are ratings were defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers some time ago. In recent years, however, full-size
truck manufacturers have set tow ratings beyond 10,000 pounds for their vehicles. Factory tow packages include a hitch subframe
and receiver constructed to match the automaker’s tow rating. The aftermarket has also responded to the increased towing capacity of full-size trucks by either increasing the ratings of their hitches beyond SAE Class IV, or establishing an independent Class V category."
