Default Towing - use tow/haul, or "S" mode?

2008 CMSB with the 5.7 The manual states that I should use tow/haul mode, and that's about it. My previous tow vehicle was a 2001 Chevy Silverado with the 5.3L Vortec, and I quickly found out that tow/haul mode wasn't nearly as efficient as simply dropping the shift level out of "D" (overdrive) down to "3".

I'm wondering if the tow/haul mode on the Tundra is good enough by itself, or do you guys also use the "S" shift mode to restrict the transmission from shifting into 6th gear or something like that?

I use the S mode when I'm towing a heavy load like my 5'er, when I'm just towing a light trailer, then I use the tow/haul mode. I can't get mine to shift into 6th gear most of the time anyway so it really doesn't bother me.

Pulling our previous trailer (TT 6,200 lbs) I used the Tow/Haul mode and just kept the tranny in drive. If the tranny starts to "hunt" then I would recommend choosing the "S" mode.
