Tekonsha PRODIGY Trailer Brake Controller little help please
My new Tundra CM came with the tow package and with the trailer brake controller pre-wired. Not saying there was a controller unit, just that it is pre-wired to more easily connect one. I want to continue to use my Tekonsha PRODIGY Trailer Brake Controller I had installed on my 2002 Tundra back in 2005. In the glove box of the new Tundra there is a wired connector in a plastic bag that came with some instructions for installation of my controller unit. However the plastic snap in/on female part will not fit my Tekonsha PRODIGY Trailer Brake Controller. Can some give me some advice or a part/adaptor number as to be able to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance for any and all help or advice,
Gary
The part in your glove box is only to connect to the matching plug on the drivers side kick panel. Then you are suppose to use the bare wire ends to splice into your bare wire ends on your brake controller. Or you can buy the part I linked to above... No splicing.

Re: Tekonsha PRODIGY Trailer Brake Controller little help please
I just finished installing a Tekonsha controller in my new Tundra about an hour ago. The easiest way to handle it is to order the wiring adapter. Mine is a Tekonsha 3040-P. It has both the Toyota and Tekosa connectors already wired and took abour 5 minutes. It took a bit longer to drill the holes and mount the controller. I have used this controller on 3 other vehicles.

So I have the controller, and the 3040P adapter. Where is the male end for the plug? I've removed my drivers side kick panel, and I DO NOT see where you plug the harness? Is it up high? Anybody?

Right on I was just wondering that because thats where I would like to put it. I had the brake controller placed on the left side of the steering wheel just above my knee in my 06 tacoma and was it ever a PITA.
thanks for the quick reply toyota for me

Yes, it is up kind of high in there. If i remember right, it's taped to another small harness and the end is sticking up.

If you're in a hurry and can't wait for the connector piece to be delivered (like I was) or you're just plain cheap (ditto) you can quite easily solder the correct wires from the pigtail which came in your glove box to the one that came with the Prodigy. Just MAKE SURE you realize that colors don't match. You need to look at the directions so you can tell which wire from the pigtail is soldered to which one for the controller. I don't remember any more, but directions for the controller are on line, and the pigtail has an instruction sheet with the wire colors labeled.
Good luck
