Default Uhaul trailer wiring kit/problems now...

I have had the wiring for about 4 years. I am going to be towing a trailer this coming month, and I need to make sure it works. I had the guy at uhaul check my connections, and it turns out that my right tail light wiring isn't sending the signal. So now the guy told me that I need a new tail light converter. I looked at all the connections under the truck, and it looks like they spliced 2 wires together, even when they had enough to make 1 wire work. Anyway, all of my other lights still work. There was corrosion on this specific terminal on my 4 prong female end. I would think none of the other lights would work, if my converter/power unit was bad...Any help provided would be great. I am a little stressed, and can't figure out what i need to do to change it. I could buy a replacement, and then have to splice 10 wires..I am seeing if this is true about the 1 wire being bad, even though the whole unit isn't.. Thanks,

Erik

Well after looking at the Uhaul device, it looks like i am going to have to splice all 10 wires. I had a v6 and it did not come with a tow package in the beginning. Oh well, I just hope this works. I need some lights, or the move from MO to CA will be full of Highway patrol. haha.

Yes your tail light converter could (and often does) go bad on only one side. Each side has it's own diode and circuitry within the converter. On trucks that don't come factory wired with trailer lights, the tail light converter also acts like a fuse between your truck's wiring and the trailer. The corrosion you saw on the plug probably had something to do with your tail light converter blowing.

Okay, I have a new development with the tail light converter that I bought. I have a standard u haul tail light converter/power module, and the right blinker is bad.. okay. I bought a new tail light converter, but it does not have a power input, like the Uhaul brand does. Is this a bad thing? Do i need power for it? I am not sure, because none of the replacements that I have seen have had a seperate power wire. Any help would be great, as I don't know much about this sort of thing. Thanks,

Erik
