This is a discussion thread titled "01 tundra factory wiring harness?", within the Towing forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
i have the tow package on my tundra and it has the 4 pin connector. is there a factory wire harness that has both the 4 pin and the 7 pin connector that is plug and play? if so what is the part number for that?
I don't think Toyota offered a 7 pin wiring harness until the later model tundras. You would have to got to a local trailer hitch shop and have them install one for you. I have the 4 flatt and I was wondering at one time if I should install a 5 pin flatt so I could haul my bass boat and have surge brakes active My Toyota mechanic told me that if I install the 5 flatt that it would somehow screw up the electrical on the truck. So instead I ran the truck with the 4 flat and never hooked up the surge brakes on my bass boat trailer. Yes my brakes would not last no more than 12k. It does not have the TRD package either with the brake upgrade even though I wish it did.
