I'm looking to use my 2002 Tundra limited with the 4.7L V8 to tow a Four Winns Horizon 230.
The boat I'm looking to buy is currently owned by an older lady looking to sell it. When I asked her the weight of the boat she couldn't tell me because they never had to worry about it (they have a Silverado 3500

). From what I gather online, the dry weight of the boat is ~4200 pounds. The sources I've found don't say whether they include trailer weight in their calculations so I have no idea what the figures really are when the boat is on the trailer. Much less when the boat is coming out of the water.
My truck has 102,360 miles on it but runs great. I would be towing up some hills to get to the launch I would use 90% of the time with the other launch I would be using a little ways down the highway.
I looked in the owners manual and see that my truck has a gross trailer weight of 7000 pounds, so I should be clear with towing that setup right?
Finally, my truck does have trailer plugins as well as a hitch. I'm unsure of exactly what I need to safely haul a trailer. The owners manual clearly states that a sway control device is in order when towing over 2000 pounds with a recommendation to use a weight distributing hitch.
My truck has an unbranded hitch which is bolted to the frame with a pollack electrical plugin. Also, the trailer does have surge brakes.
What do you guys think about this setup?
