I have an 05 Tacoma crew cab, 4wd, TRD sport w/towing package(6500#s) and have purchased a Diamond Cargo 6x12 v-nose tandem axle cargo trailer for a move (7+ hours of hauling). I have installed a Prodigy brake controller and have the trailer load, heavy stuff over the axles, but it is completely packed. My question is whether I should invest in a WDH with sway control or not. Also, any advice on how to figure out my tongue weight? I know my truck is limited to 650lbs on the tongue, but I don't have any scales that go that high. Will a WDH allow me to go above that number?
I would recommend some sort of helper springs, I have the Superspring and love them. If you have the Spring TSB you should be fine. You could use a WDH, but it is probably not necessary if you have helper springs. I know helper springs don't do anything as far as transferring the tongue weight to the front of the tow vehicle, but your biggest problem is going to be from sitting on the bump stops. You shouldn't a problem with sway as it is a pretty short trailer.
What do you estimate the weight of your trailer is?
I have pulled a very loaded 6x12 Uhaul trailer several times helping different people move and with the Supersprings it is an easy pull and sits slightly higher than level in the rear.

The trailer is about 1700lbs empty and I have approx 3500 lbs in it, but it is completely full. I have about 40 rubbermaids full of stuff load over the tandem axles and about 20 trashbags (quick packing material) of clothes in the front V section. I don't have a good way of measuring the tongue weight and was hoping someone had a suggestion. I have about 52K on the miles so I am out of luck on the springs under warranty. Are the Supersprings a do-it-yourself type thing? I installed the Gibson catback exhaust myself and have change an alternator on my old car before. Thanks again for the tips.

Yes, it sounds like the Supersprings would be a do it your self project for you, you can download the install instructions from their website. I highly recommend them. You could go the WDH route if you want. I am not an WDH expert by any means, but I think you would need to re adjust them after unloading the trailer. Maybe some others that are more familiar with WDH will chime in.

I have done a little reading up on the Supersprings since you mentioned them earlier and think they might work. My only problem is that I have to make the drive this weekend and am not sure I will be able to get a hold of a set by then. I will hook up the trailer (loaded) and post them tomorrow.
I would definitely invest in the Supersprings, if not before this trip, then after, if you plan on towing or hauling any heavy loads. Have you had the trailer hooked up to your truck before while it was loaded? I am sure you will be fine for this trip, you may hit the bump stops over most substantial bumps in the road, but other than that is should be a good tow.
