Any suggestions for max tire pressure on a set of Mich 10ply tires for the truck. The range can be anywhere from 40-80psi. Obviously I wont do 40 pounds, but would you go max?
Trailer: 9300 pounds (with all the crap in it), 32 feet long
Tongue weight: I have no idea
WDH reese DC installed
No airbags
Crewmax 4x2
I have E load rated Goodrich T/A radials that I run at 70 psi when towing and drop down to 50 psi if I won't be towing for a few days. At 70 psi with no load the truck rides like a skateboard and that is without the rear spring TSB having been done on my truck.
I just remember I was told when I bought the tires NOT to put 80psi in them, that it wasnt needed- and that 70 was a good #. It sure is nice to have a portable air compressor!
Had a service tech tell me one time that tires should never be run higher than 75% of the max rated inflation. Have never been able to verify if that if that is gospel or not. A portable compressor is very nice considering every time I get my oil changed they check the tires and drop the pressure to 35 even when I tell them to leave the tires alone.
I run 60 psi all the way around towing our 8k lb fiver with 1250 pin weight.
This is PLENTY of air pressure, and there is no need to go higher unless you're overweighing the tire itself. You'd have to have over 7000 lbs on the rear to do that. At least i think an E rated tire is rated at 3500 lbs at 80 psi cold; or there abouts.
Now my C rated mud tire ( or 6 ply ) gets 50 psi all around when towing. This is max pressure for this tire, but it is only a 6 ply which is rated around 2500 or so.
Empty i run 40 front and 33 rear; either tire this is what i run. Got a set of 10-ply goodyear's for summer use.

They don't know what they're talking about. I run my P rated tires at max pressure while towing. Anything less and they are way too bouncy. Actually, they're still too bouncy, even at max pressure. Trailer tires (ST rated) should always be run at max pressure per the manufacturer's recommendation.
When I had C rated tires on my other Tundra, I ran the rears at max pressure, 50 psi, even thought the load only required 38 psi. That provided the best stability and performance while towing.
If I had E rated tires, I would start with what OTFM recommended. I would verify the inflation with a simple chalk test (put a liberal amount of chalk on the tire in a line across the tread and drive forward while loaded. The chalk should leave a nice witness mark on the pavement. If the witness mark shows contact across the entire tread, you are not overinflated).

That was a Toyota service tech that told me that. When I took the truck in for the dreaded 60k service he dropped the pressure to 35 psi then argued with me when I told him 35 was way too low for a tire rated for 80 max. My bet is the guy just assumed it was a 6 ply tire and never bothered to check the sidewalls then got defensive when I called him on it. What really pissed me off though was they claimed they drove the truck after service and those tires at 35 psi feel like your driving on four flats.

It pisses me off when tech's screw with my air pressure. Just had mine in for a dash rattle, and the TPMS. The first time they didn't fix the TPMS right so they got the privelage again. So far it's fixed, but they dropped the tires to 38 psi all around. Noticed this and dropped the rear to 33 and left the front at 38 til i decide to air them up. I like to run a little more in the front on my mudders, for better wear (45).
35 may not be too low for the rears when empty, but i'd never run that in the front, period. Waaaaay too low on even a 6-ply, let alone a 10.
I try to stay as far away from the stealerships as possible. The DO NOT care about your ride whatsoever.
Where did you guys get your E rated tires and how much did you pay for them? I was just at Discount Tire and they only had a +1 tire that was an XL that would fit the stock 20" rims. Firestone didn't have any either, not many tire shops left in town...

Got mine from my dad's tire shop here in town. Paid $1000 OTD on my goodyear AT 10-ply, and the same price for my 6-ply cooper STT mudders. They are 18" though, so i can't help you much with the 20".
I do want to know; how you liking your outback? Quaility there? Are they a little pricey?
I've noticed a super nice looking Outback 5th wheel, which i want to go look at. But i'm afraid if i do, i'll need to spend some money. I think they're made by Keystone, right?
Toyo open country at 275/65 18 10 ply, i run them 55 front and 65 rear when towing 65 front and 70 rear. If i listen to the guys on rv.net they will tell me my wheels are going to explode since they cant handle that mush pressure being only 1/2 ton wheels...you know the steel is different on diesels...lol
Outback's are made by Keystone, i have a sydney edition 32bhds travel trailer and love it. I would be cautious of the weight of their 5th wheels, not sure what the pin weight is on them but definetly heavier than my travel trailer.

We have an NTB nearby, I will check with them.
As for the Outback, great quality which is why I chose it over other brands. Lots of info over at the Outbackers Forum. Min was priced $33,500, got it for $21,500. Best thing I liked about mine...King Dinette (U-shape), huge bunkhouse with adult sized bunks, outside kitchen, flip-around LCD tv that goes from master bed to living room. I love it, Tundra tows it well. I just bought airbags, haven't installed them yet...this weekend?

That's one heluva deal you got.
It would be nice to have a U-shaped dinette; ours is pretty small and can only seat 4 comfortably.
One thing i noticed about this outback 5er, is it has white cabinets and i don't think i like that. I'd imagine i could get different cabinets?
It also has 15" tires, which would be the first thing i would request to be upgraded to 16". It has a nice big mirror right above the king pin, which would make hitching up a breeze. And a HUGE front storage compartment underneath that would be nice.
