Default Another sway control Question

I have a 2003 SR5 Tundra with tow package. I am pulling a 2005 Rockwood Ulta lite Model 2605. it has a dry weight of around 4,600. I am using a Husky WDH with 1000 # bars. I just bought it and it has this setup. The box length is about 24 feet with almost 4 feet of hitch. I want to put a sway control on it but only have a couple of hundred dollars to spend. What is my best bet. I am looking at camping worlds Reese friction type or the Huskey friction type is so cheap i could buy the right and left instead of just the one side as with the reese brand. Do I need a right and left? Any suggestions?

The only time I have seen 2 sway controls used is on 35' plus trailers and big heavy park models. Try one side first. Take it out on the highway and drive about 55. The traffic will be blowing past you and you will get a real good idea if you want two sway controls. Most likely you will just need to figure how much you need to tighten the one side and it will be enough.

Thanks droolingmess. Any suggestions on the Husky (Which is like 67 dollars) or the Reese brand which is 129.00 at Campingworld.

I use a Husky that works fine for me. Both Eazlift and Reese are about twice as much as the Husky and best I can tell they do the exact same thing. Remember to clean your sway control with a wire brush between uses to keep is working 100%. You will probably see folks say never back up with the sway control on. Not always true. An easy way to check is to take your ball mount off the truck, then put it and the sway control on the trailer. Move the ball mount through a full range of motion and see if the ball for the sway control hits the coupler when full to one side. If it does you want to remove the sway control when making severely tight turns. If the the rear edge of the ball mount hits the coupler before the sway control ball don't bother to remove the sway control when backing or making tight turns.

What kind of bars do you have on that Husky? If they are trunion style, you can add a Reese Dual Cam HP to the setup for $169 and have one of the best sway control systems out there. I had the friction type (single) on my 25' trailer and it worked fine. Or so I thought. I put a Reese Dual Cam HP on it and the difference was very noticable. You're pushing the capability of the legacy Tundra with that trailer, spend the few extra quid and make it as safe as possible.

Thanks Tom. The listed trailer weight is like 4,050 but i added the 600 #s for the stuff they add on like Ac and awning. i will look into the Reese Dual Cam but i think i have the type that is shaped like an L and u shove the short end from the bottom up into a round hole. Not sure if that made sense. I am taking it to the scales next Tuesday to see the truth.

I run dual sways on mine. I have a 26' TT. I am using the E-Z lift style sway controls.

I used to use the friction control but went to the Reese Dual Cam and LOVE IT. While the friction control worked the difference was hugely noticable. Oncoming trucks - No sway. 70 mph - no problem. Feels super tight and I don't have to crank the thing down. Just set it up like a normal WDH and off you go. It's well worth it IMO.

I think the post above is correct. All the sway bars are made in China so there's really no reason to buy the branded version. After all, they are just steel plates.

Don't forget you have to loosen the tension on a sway bar in wet weather.

Wow thanks for the info guys. Sean i did not know about the wet weather and loosening the sway control friction. I put a friction controller on and it seems to work great. On a different note my WDH when all set up makes my rear end of my truck squat down about 3.5 inches. Should my trucks rear end sit at the same height when it is empty and when it has the trailer hooked up?
