Default Keystone Outback's

So the wife has finally convinced me in possibly towing a travel trailer behind my Toyota. I currently have a 2005 4x4, DC, with a factory towing package. I really like the Keystone Outbacks. I was wondering if anybody out there can help with a set up. We have talked about the Outback 210, or 250. Thanks again for all the help. I live in Lake Stevens, WA and we plan on doing a lot of camping in the Coeur d'Alene/Kellogg area of Idaho.

FYI...dont go by the dry weight when you buy a trailer. My OUtback sydney 32bhds was listed as 7600lbs, it actually weighed 8450lbs the last time i went to the scales. Since many more items have found their way into the trailer which i am sure puts me over my cargo capacity.

Aside from that we have loved out Outback, for more info you could check out Outbackers.com

I have quite a few customers with Outback trailers and all of them love the brand. As someone above said, the site to find out specifics about the models you are interested in is Outbackers.com

I'm not familiar with the Outback 210 or 250 models, however, I do own a 2004 Outback 26RS. Which is a 26 foot travel trailer with a rear slide and a bunkhouse up front. We bought it brand new in Sept. of 2003. I tow it with a 2001 Tundra (see my sig line) and this combo works great! The Outback, when ready for camping with only about 10 -15 gallons of water on-board for incidentals comes in at 5,600 lbs. This number was from a weighing facility. We just returned from a 2 week long trip up to Oregon and Washington. No problems whatsoever. My Tundra now has 127,000 miles on it and she still tows the Outback very well. I am running Amsoil in the tranny along with a larger tranny cooler. For my situation with my Tundra (alot of mods = more weight) I would not tow anything heavier than this trailer. You must also factor in how many people you would have in your Tundra, stuff you toss in the bed of your truck (it adds up quickly!) and all things you want to always keep in your trailer, regardless of brand. I don't know what your experience level in towing is, but just a couple of things to keep in mind.

Let me know if you have any questions and I'd be happy to answer them. I'm over on Outbackers too, same user name.

I second 1Jeep and his weight conundrum. Mine is supposed to be in the 7K range empty but I figure it's somewhere around 8500lbs. I'm overloaded as well and have a ton of extra storage space. My old fun finder was the same way, it was supposed to weigh 4300lbs empty but weight around 4900lbs. Manufacturer weights are without anything extra like the fridge or water heater.

Get the 25 instead of the 21 for you will really like the slide out space. I towed our 07 25RSS trailer with an 05 Tundra DC without any problems before it was totalled by a drunk driver. I now tow our 25 RSS with an 07 Crewmax. I use a Husky WD and a friction sway bar. Towed well with the 05 DC and really well with my 07 CM.

I towed a 26'7" FunFinder 250BHS with my Tacoma and I wanted more space so that's why I got the Tundra...so I agree, go big!

I have a 2009 310BHS and it tows great with my '08 / 5.7L. I just did a 4,000 mile trip with it - no problems at all. I am very pleased with the quality on the Outback trailer too - much better than other comparable brands with similar price points.

Hi Frymedec
We tow a 23 KRS Kargoroo behind our 2008 doublecab tundra. That set-up has a lot of margin in my opinion.

But because we are near gross weight lomits for the truck (we load 2 ATV's in addition to the set-up) I added firestone

"ride-rite" air bags on the back, to control the headlight levels. We usually only tow with 40 PSI to keep the lights level. And Ride

QUALITY was enhanced. I would also recommend a QUALITY brake controller, like Prodigy. They greatly improve braking by having the

trailer with electric brakes mimic the disc brakes on the truck.

Good luck and see you on the North Fork of the Coeur d' ALene some time!
