My tires are not wore out, just getting old and we have some trips coming up so I have been struggling with what tires to buy for replacements. I read not so good stuff about Carlisle, Goodyear Marathon, and some odd ball brands, no one seems to have good words for any of the Trailer Service tires. I have read where a number of people are using LT "C" or "D" rated tires and are much happier.
Now comes the fun, the rims on my RV are 15X5 which makes mounting an LT tire out of the question as it is two inches too narrow. I found that Unique Wheels makes a steel wheel (297 model in black or chrome) that is 1) a 15X7 rim which is perfect for using LT tires, 2) the wheels are rated to carry 2200 lbs. So I have a set ordered for my 5'er along with some "C" rated Michelins LTs, this is sort of a spendy solution to my tire concerns but I feel much safer with better quality tires that are also rated to carry the load. I will keep ya posted as things progress.

If you can't take it with ya, why bother with an RV!

Let ya know next week, just got them on and heading out tomorrow. I seriously doubt I will notice anything as the 5'er pulled fine before, it does set up 3/4" higher though.

Get ready to turn down your brake controller. At least with my LT's, i had to as i have much better braking now. It seems to tow smoother now, and the trailer rides a lot better as well.
So you already put LTs on your trailer? Those are good points to know, I will be setting up the brake controller this morning again for the loaded rig, it will be interesting what voltage it will need. I am expecting a smoother ride as these tires seem firmer than the Carsisle that were on there, less bouncy.

Yes, i did. I put on Yokohama Geolander HTS's in the 30/9.50/15 size. About an inch taller than stock, but i needed to lift the trailer up a little more. I run them at 55 psi cold on the trailer, but the max cold is 50. Dad said it doesn't hurt a thing to run them a little higher, and it helped with the pooch.
Oh yeah, definately less bouncy that's for sure.
What's your actual axle weight's, do you know?
Check out my post here on these tires.
Here they are:

Got back this afternoon from running up the mountain for a few days, those Michelin LTs are for sure a much firmer tire than those Carsisle tires, the 5'er rode much smoother and fewer things moved about inside the 5'er. I like em!!
I run the tires at 50 psi (max for the tire), gained about 3/4" height with the 5'er. This may not be the cheapest way to replace trailer tires but they are a ton better.

Just got back from a 4,000 miles trip towing the 5'er, the Michelin LTX M/S tires performed flawlessly. They are very smooth running and track excellent going down the road. And one other big plus is there are not speed limited to 65MPH or less like ST tires.
