No, i don't know anything about this particular one. Although, i have read about folks trying to elimnate the chucking motion with not much success with the cushioned type hitches.
I didn't reinforce the pin box at all. According to KZ, they allow gooseneck type hithces so i didn't think it was necessary.
Re: 4,000 Miles Pulling 5'er, '07 Tundra Gets The Gold Star
Hi,
Just an update on my search for a fifth wheel hitch. Here's what I've found: Curtis makes a "Double Lock" gooseneck hitch that mounts below the bed for a 2007-2009 Tundra with the 6.5' box. They also make an "X5 Adapter" with standard in-bed hitch rails that allows me to use any hitch with it. I'd probably use their "E5" head assembly and maybe their "R5 Fifth Wheel Roller" (slider). That way I could avoid all of the fiver manufacturers' warranty issues and still have the clean truck bed I've been looking for.
It's not quite as slick as a gooseneck adapter but I can live with that. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks for all your help,
Bill

Heck all of them make their hitches to mount to rails in the bed so they can be removed when you want to use the whole truck. My Reese does that and I got their 16k slider hitch to mount on the rails, it has dual tilting head.

Exactly what he said ^. When I'm not towing the trailer, I remove my DSP hitch, all that are left are the two rails mounted for-and-aft (see picture, below) they don't take up any room in the bed.

With the system I'll be installing, even the rails will be gone. All I'll have is a 4" diameter hole in the middle of the bed with the bottom of an inverted gooseneck ball showing. Once I put the bed mat back in, you won't even know it's there. No lumps, no ridges, no bumps...
I'll post pictures.

That's what i like about my gooseneck setup; just a 4" hole in the bed and when removed nothing's in the way.
Eugarps........just so you know, you CANNOT invert the ball in the hitch on the tundra due to the large differential in the way. My GN hitch came with a bracket that must be installed so you won't turn the ball over and re-insert.
This is fine by me as i usually just remove the ball all together.

Re: 4,000 Miles Pulling 5'er, '07 Tundra Gets The Gold Star
Yup. The first one had a noise from 48 mph to 55 mph. Scored bearing. The one they put in had a whistle in it about the pitch of a cricket's chirp but constant. It just got louder as I accelerated. The one in there now is quiet. $1976.00 x 2 is what Toyota paid for the right to replace the units and send them off to their engineering department.
Even tanks can have a flaw occasionally.
You have a B&W hitch. Correct?

That's interesting on the diff.......Looks like the third one's the charm huh?
Yes, B&W turnover ball hitch i got from etrailer.com. Well, actually i have the drawtite brand but my dad has the b&w. I wish i had the b&w, as i beleive they're the better one of the two.
My drawtite's not too bad i guess; but i prefer the b&w pin release better.
