Default Would you tow this with 06 DC?

Would you see weight problems in towing this:

Northwood: Nash Trailers 21-5R

with my 2006 DC 4wd V8? I have the full tow package and LSD. Current tires are duelers would they need to be changed? I am the kind of guy who likes a nice easy pull versus something on the edge of TV capabilities. Thanks folks...

Hmm well I would. But you don't know me

I don't have a problem towing above the ratings, as long as it's not on the edge of the TV capabilities

I would without issue, your truck will handle it just fine. Only some serious mountain grade will work it but even then not a major issue.

Here is what I towed with my '00 Tundra

Empty weight was 6,600 hundred pounds. And I ran up and down the mountains with it.

I see no problems towing this trailer with your 06. At 4400lbs dry, and 770 pin i don't think you'll even tax your GVWR on the truck. Your duelers should be a C rated tire minimum IMO, before you tow any house trailer.

I towed my 7500lb fiver with my 02 tundra, and amazingly it did pretty well for what it was. It only had the 4-speed, where you have the 5-speed which will help. Plus, i had the 3.90 rear, and i beleive you have the 4.10 if i'm not mistaken.

IMO, you can tow that trailer with confidence if you're properly set up.

Here's the 5er i pulled and still do:

Did I mention I live in Colorado Springs and 90% of towing is into the mountains? :-) Thanks for this input oflks. It is helping. I have neve had a fiver. Dont even know how to hitch one up. Are they easier or hard to hook-up to than a bumper pull? I am getting tired of having to setup the WDH and sway control on the bumper pull. Does a fiver do away with that stuff? Thanks...

Tanker did you have any special installs on the 02? Airbags, bilsteins, etc.?

I put 2,000 lbs progressive over-load springs on the truck, D rated tires and for some added kick I added JBA headers. Being yours is dramatically lighter you may do just fine without headers.

As for your other question, hooking up to a 5'er is a breeze. I personally back up to the pin then hook up the electrical plug so that I can manually apply the brakes on the trailer then I do the last little push to put the pin in the receiver, latch it closed, then raise the legs.

Living in Arizona I do a lot of mountain towing also, to danged hot in the summer so we head for the mountains!

Well, i live in Utah where it's similiar i'm sure to Colorado with lots of hills. You make sure to leave the OD off when towing, and you'll be just fine.
A fiver is definately the way to go if you can make it work. A fiver can be a little tricky hooking up to, but once you fully understand how it works you'll be fine.
I have no problems hooking up to my fiver; but it's a gooseneck which is about the same as a bumper pull, but the ball is in the bed. All i do is position it over the ball just right, and then drop the trailer on it. Piece of cake; i don't even have to pull any levers or anything. Just pull the lock pin out, letter down and she pops into place. And.... there is no possiblity of it falling on the truck this way once the lever pops into place.

Yes, a fiver does away with the WDH and sway control. Some fivers require you to add airbags to the truck; but in your situation you won't need any.

Like i've said many times here: once you go fiver, you'll never go back!!
