Default Can I tow trailer with 780# hitch weight?

I am looking at a travel trailer with a "dry" hitch weight of 780#`s.
I might be towing it when I trade up for the 04 Tundra.
Am I correct that with a weight distributing hitch, the maximum tongue weight that I can put on the ball is still 750#`s?
Thanks for any input.

My tounge weight is 750# and I do not have any problems towing. The weight does not push the rear end of the truck down because I have weight distributions bars as part of the trailer hitch setup. The trailer weighs 5000# and pulls nicely.

If that tongue weight was 780# fully loaded and you had 1000# spring bars, you might be OK, but it'll be a lot more than 780 when you install the battery, propane cylinders, and the usual accessories, options, and personal junk in the trailer. Too heavy.

How heavy is the loaded trailer going to be? Don't exceed the Tundra's 11,800# GCWR, the weight of the fully fueled and loaded truck, including passengers, plus the fully loaded trailer.

Ken, the trailer weighs 5,400#`s empty. I had a feeling that even with the weight distributing hitch I would be over the limit since 780#`s is the DRY weight..I just needed input from you guys to verify this.Maybe Toyota will bump this max weight up in the future to compete with the big three. Thanks
