Default Re: 5th Wheel Towing

we have a 2008 tundra double cab 5.7 and we are thinking of getting a 5th wheel trailer. We know we will have no trouble towing it but what concerns us is the pin weight. The trailer that we are looking at only weighs 5100 lbs. with a pin weight of 830. We are reconfirming this weight. So if this is true we should still be ok since the trucks payload is over 1500 pounds. We dont have much to put in the trailer just your standard camping items, the water tank in the 5th is at the back of the trailer so that you would think would lift the weight of the pin somewhat. Im just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this and is there anyone out there that has our truck that tows a 5th wheel and how it is going for you

No problem whatsoever with that trailer. You want to try and keep the pin weight at or below 1250 lbs to keep under GAWR of the truck.

Numerous threads in this towing section that can answer all your questions.

I tow a 7500lb 5er with a pin of 1250, and i am well within the GAWR of the truck. 5.7L DC standard bed.

New member- 1st post- I have a 2008 Tundra 4 door, large V8 and thought about a 1/2 ton towable 2007/2008 model 5th wheel Cougar with a dry weight of 7700 lbs. Will my 2008 Tundra qualify to safely pull this 5th wheel? All the previous post I could find talked about 2006 and older Tundras. Hope I'm not repeating any previous Threads. Thanks for any responses.

You're asking for opinions, so expect to find an assortment. Here's mine:Tundra as Tow-Mobile: 1,200 miles, 12,000 lbs, 10 MPG

We tow a 2008 Keystone Cougar Fifth Wheel RKS278, it might be the same unit y9u are talking about. It tows beautifully. We do have Firestone Airbags, good trailer tires and brake controller. Check out our pictures in our album. Good Luck
