Default Anyone trailer a car with their '05 Tacoma?

Just curious how hard anyone has worked their new Tacoma.

I'm thinking of putting my Supra (3500 lbs) on a trailer (prob another 2500 lbs) and towing it to a track.

I think I'm still under the rated capacity but I'm pretty damn close.

Has anyone towed a tandem trailer and a car with their Tacoma?

Mine is a V6 Auto TRD with the tow package - FYI.

Thanks
Jim

Theres this guy around here with a CDLB(PK) who tows what looks to be a 8x15' tandem axle enclosed trailer almost daily. Ive seen him load that thing full of various stuff. One of these days Im going to ask him how his truck does.

Just giving you an idea.

Default I pulled a car

Hi, I pulled a 96' Passat Diesel for 300 miles on a car dolly with no problems. I even went through a mountain pass in gila national. If you have the manual 6 speed, do not go into 6th gear while towing and you and your truck will be fine.

780 miles from Austin, TX to Kansas City, KS for the SyTy Nationals with my buddies GMC Syclone 4.3 L V6 0-60 in 4.6 Seconds (A DAMN fast truck)... caravanned behind a Dodge Turbo diesel and had no problems keeping up. Trailer is ~900, truck is 4750 dry so i'm figuring I am really close to 6500 with people/gear. The truck drove like a dream at 75, even in overdrive. With 91+ octane, I got 14-15 mpg vs my earlier posted 10mpg with my boat at 87. I've been flogging this thing on the towing side for months and it's been eating it up like candy. This thing exceeds expectations constantly in that respect. The guy with the big dodge actually asked me if it had a turbo, and how big the engine was because he was shocked I could keep up.

I love the look of the dually turbo diesel drivers as I pass them by on the interstate... always a look of disgust/disbelief... lol.

Only time will tell the longevitity though...

Check out previous towing thread... I'm the guy with the boat.

Awesome! Thats exactly what I was hoping to hear.

It's funny - I came within inches of buying a new CTD Ram... but the cost (truck and fuel) scared me away. I'm very happy with my decision.

How did your buddy do at the SyTy Nationals? I love a turbo 3.8L...Either a Syclone or a GN will llive in my garage someday.

We use our 05 double cab long bed tacoma to pull our race car using a 18' dual axel trailer. We have no problems pulling the car at all... 80mph down the freeway is no prob.. we actually forget the cars back there actually, pulls without any problems at all...

Trailer looks like this:

Cars approx. 1600lbs w/ driver:

you do the math.. I'd say prolly around 4,000lbs(ish) or so all loaded up
