Towing with a Highlander

Hi all.I test drove an '05 base model Highlander today.V6 engine.I'm thinking of trading in my almost new '05 Sante Fe for a new Highlander.The Sante is a nice vehicle,but even with it's 3.5 200 h.p. V6, I could use a bit more oomph.With an extra 30 h.p. and more torque(Sante has 219 ft lbs), the Highlander may be just what I need.Any input is appreciated.I'm hoping to get the 2wd version of the Toyota.

So,ummmm, 19 views & no replies No one here tows with their Highlander? Which hitch looks best,factory Toyota,or some other brand?How's the Highlander handle a trailer with the V6?I gotta pick up a hitch soon.How 'bout it then?

I have a 02 highlander but haven''t yet got an hitch for it because my boat weighs more then it's max rating which is why my tundra does the towing so I'm in no hurry to put a hitch on the highlander.

Hi, I also have a Highlander ( 2005) 6cly. and looking to buy a boat to tow. The boat i like is 21ft searay 3800 lbs which is 3 hundread above the 3500 max. Have you started towing yet and what do you think of my choice. I live on long island NY. and will only be towing for less than 20 min. Thanks. John G.

We have a 4-cyl 2wd HL. We've towed our 1400lb camper without any problems. Grapevine Pass, Donner Pass were no big deal. Of course, we were slower than the regular traffic but not slow enough to use the climbing lanes.
