Default Towing a toyhauler

I have a 05 DC 2wd and was thinking of getting a small toyhauler. Either a 16ft Carson or a 16ft Baja. Can the truck handle it? These seem to be the smallest and lightest haulers out there.

I think you'll be okay with the Carson or American Freedom up to about 20ft as long as you watch the tongue weight. Weekend Warriors are way higher quality, and way heavier.

Keep in mind that if you're just heading out for a weekend without the ATVs, the tongue weight will be WAY up once you fill the water tank. They are designed with the axles farther back than a normal travel trailer and with the holding tanks up front to compensate for an expected heavy load behind the axles.

The Carson trailers are nice, but the light weight and low price to have a cost... they are not high quality. The cabinet work and walls are very thin and cheap-feeling. Still... they're great for a weekend getaway.

I'm not looking for anything fancy. Just tired of sleeping in a tent

My feeling as well.
If I buy one myself, it will also be an 18 or so. A 14 would be great, but it's only dual-gauchos... okay for two guys, but no room for a bedmate, and definitely no bedmate WITH a buddy along for the trip. The 18's are big enough to sleep 4 in comfort.

As far as the tanks and stuff... I'd rather NOT clean out holding tanks, and plan to use whatever facilities are available for everything except cooking

Default Re: Towing a toyhauler

I just bought a Weekend Warrior Superlite 19ft and took it on its first trip this last weekend. I must say i was very impressed with the Tundra. I have a RCD 6 in lift on 33's and installed a weight distibution hitch and i had zero sway issues. It pulled at 2800-3000 rpms at about 65-70 mph the whole way to Gordons Well Sand Dunes from Phoenix. The trailer weighs 3800 dry and had a golf cart, quad, and bike loaded along with the typical cargo. Perfect setup for us. What did you get?
