Sorry for the dumb question, but if I purchase the Tekonsha Prodigy along with the vehicle specific harness ( 3040 ) and plug it into the factory installed wire harness that comes with the tow package, am I finished with the installation?
Also do I need to be concerned with how the 7-pin conector on the trailer is wired? Or is there a standard wiring pattern that "should" have been followed when the conector was put on?

Or is there a standard wiring pattern that "should" have been followed when the conector was put on? Yes. Most trailers have a common wiring layout.

Plug it in and forget it. No need to make any changes or modifications. It's all standard setup. I have mine mounted in the center column and I run the cable up under the dash. Longest part of my install was cutting out a small hole to route the cable through. Excellent brake controller and works seamlessly with my Tacoma and trailer. True plug-n-play setup.

Do any Tundra owners have pictures of their install? I have the Prodigy and the Toyota harness, and I just need to find a nice place to install it.

I don't have a picture, but there is an alcove in the dash to the right of the steering column that seems to be made for the brake controller. Cut a small hole (use a hole saw) at the back to run the wiring through.

So I purchased the toyota specific harness. All the wires were connected to connectors at both ends,r except one. The color is white. Am I to assume that this is just a ground????

Yes exactly. Just find a good screw under the dash that's grounded (not screwed into plastic) and you're good to go. It's not totally necessary to ground it though and I'm not sure why they included it. The ground is already in the harness bundle when using a 7 pin trailer connector. It may be necessary if you're running a 7 to 4 pin converter though.

The harness I used has all wires with a "home". That's kind of odd. You should have received a wiring diagram with both the controller, and your harness.
Anyway, I will post up a pic of my Tundra install later, I also used the little space under the dash, basically below the key. Remember to angle the controller upward slightly for the inertial sensor to work properly - mine is mounted such that I can just fit my fingers in to work the top controls. It works awesome and with a 5,000lb trailer, stops like I'm not even towing.

Hi Denver,
I look forward to your pictures. My girlfriend just moved to Denver for a pharmacy residency. I was out there to visit a few weeks ago, and man that is some beautiful country. I'll be moving out there in the next year or so.
The Prodigy is a good choice. I installed one in my F350 for towing my 34ft 5th wheel camper and it really smoothed the stopping. No more erratic jerking or locking up.
