They had the best price of all the online vendors I checked. You'll want to order the hitch balls from them too. This hitch uses hitch balls that you will not find at your local hardware store. It requires hitch balls with a 2 1/4" long by 1 1/4" diameter threaded shank.
And now the fun part - for a 1 1/4" diameter shank, you need to torque the 1 7/8" nut down to 450ft-lbs. I took it to a truck shop, and they could not get their socket on it. I called Equal-i-zer and it turns out that they manufacture a special thin-wall 3/4" drive socket for this purpose. Their dealers have this socket, but this doesn't help me since I ordered online. Equal-i-zer sells the socket for $25 plus $6 shipping, so I ended up ordering one so I could swap between the 2" and 2 5/16" balls myself. If you are only ordering one ball, you might be able to ask RV Wholesalers to pre-install this for you. I also needed a 1/2"-to-3/4" drive adapter, and a 1 1/8" socket and wrench for the hitch head nuts/bolts.
Sorry it took so long for me to reply, I couldn't figure out how to explain this. I ended up taking some photos of the socket and hitch. I have included a description of the issue in this photo:
Great pics, HotRod! How many washers did you end up using between the shank and the hitch head? The manual says five is a good starting point, but that tilts the head down quite a lot.
My first of use will be for a rental trailer, so I'll be doing all this measuring and fine-tuning out in the rental store parking lot.
I used 5 washers. I initially had 4 when I originally set up the hitch head, before I actually got my trailer. I found that I didn't get enough weight transfer to the front wheels so I added the 5th washer.
Thanks for the info, Chrispitude! I saved well over $200 versus buying from my RV dealer by ordering my Equil-i-zer hitch from RVWholesalers.com. Plus I got the right tools for the installation from your directions.
