Default 05 V6 mods for towing

I have an 05 SC with the new V6 engine. I tow a cargo trailer, 900lbs plus about 3-400 lbs of equipment in it. It travels good now but I am wondering if all the mods you are doing with the JBA headers and gibson exhaust would also work with my setup. According to the specs on this engine, I am getting my max torque at 4000 rpm. Most of my travel is in the city so I am doing alot of stop and go so more low end power would be great. Thanks for any input.

what do you mean by "sc"? I thought you meants supercharged, but that is not available for any 05 model.

So far, no one has shown a dyno graph for headers that doesn't LOSE power in the low-end.

JBA doesn't yet offer headers for the '05 V6 Tundra; they may in the future since they did make them for the 3.4V6 on earlier models.

I have no idea whether or not a Gibson exhaust will help the low end torque on the V6 if you don't have headers. I suspect the effect, if any, will be rather small. But if you want to be the first to experiment with this mod, please let us know what you find out.

1300 or 1400 pounds total weight should not be a problem - ever.
I would leave the engine/exhaust bone stock and put my foot down as needed.

If JBA ever makes headers for your truck get them - but that's all I would do.

According to the specs, my new V6 has the same HP rating as the earlier V8's but lower torque rating. I would like to have gotten the V8 but they did not have one at the dealer and I needed something right away.

My 05 tacoma with 4L V6 almost doesn't notice my 2000lb empty trailer. I only notice it when I put my 92 toyota/fullsize chevy hybrid 4x4 on too. Then it still tows better than my GMC fullsize I just traded for the taco.

Default Towing Power

The Tundra does a great job towing the little trailer I have, just yesterday I needed to get onto a busy state road and saw a small opening and took off and I was truly impressed with the power I had right up to 60mph. My last tank full was used mostly towing this trailer and I got 16.5 mpg. Now that my front end vibration problem has been taken care of I look forward to some good cruising with it. As Ray suggested, I may still go for the gibson muffler now and when JBA comes out with a header for my engine I will still get that as well.

Happy to see you found them. Good Luck with your headers, they are a CARB approved quality product.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to siphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
If your engine doesn't consume ANY oil it will seize???
Some people should not be allowed access to tools without books!!!

Default How much

How much did you pay for them and let me know how they are to install and run. Are you gonna run a dyno test to see how they work out.
